Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı özel eğitim ve rehabilitasyon merkezlerinde tedavi gören Down Sendromlu çocukların tedavisi hakkında fizyoterapist ve bakım veren annelerin rehabilitasyondan beklentileri arasındaki uyumun araştırılmasıdır. Çalışmaya yaş ortalaması 26,24±12,94 ay olan 117 Down Sendromlu çocuğun annesi ve fizyoterapistleri dahil edildi. Tüm katılımcılar Aydın ilindeki çeşitli özel eğitim ve rehabilitasyon merkezlerinden toplandı. Fizyoterapist ve annelerin çocukların fizyoterapi ve rehabilitasyon programı ile ilgili beklentileri ve görüşlerini değerlendirmek amacıyla 6 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan anket kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmaya yaş ortalaması 36.74±4.15 yıl olan 117 Down sendromlu çocuğa sahip anne katılmıştır. Çalışmamıza katılan fizyoterapistlerin yaş ortalaması 34,03±9,32 yıl ve çalışma yılı ortalaması 9,91±8,76 yıl olarak saptanmıştır. Fizyoterapistler ve anneler arasında Down Sendromlu çocuklara uygulanan tedavinin uygunluğu, çocukların aldığı tedaviden beklentileri ve çocuğa ek tedaviler uygulanması konusunda istatistiksel olarak iyi derecede bir uyuşma (çok yüksek korelasyon) bulurken (p=0.000), çocukların tedavileri ile ilgili görüşleri ve çocukların aldığı tedaviler konusunda anneler ve fizyoterapistlerin farkındalığı konusunda istatistiksel olarak önemsiz bir uyuşma bulundu (p=0.01). Sonuç olarak fizyoterapistler tarafından çocuklar için tedavi programı hazırlanırken annelerin bu konudaki görüş ve beklentilerinin dikkate alınmasının tedavinin etkinliğini arttırmada önemli bir yaklaşım olduğunu göstermektedir.

The aim of this study was to examine the agreement between physiotherapists and mothers about the treatment of children with Down syndrome who received treatment in special education and rehabilitation centers. Mothers of 117 children with Down syndrome whose a mean of age 26,24±12,94 months and physiotherapists were included to this study. All participants who were being treated in special education centers in the province of Aydın. A questionnaire consisting of 6 open-ended questions was used to describe the expectations and views of the physiotherapists and mothers about the physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs for the children. The mean age of the mothers with a child with Down syndrome was 36.74±4.15 years, and the mean age of the physiotherapists was 34,03±9,32 years and their mean number of working years was 9,91±8,76. We found a statistically significant level of agreement between the physiotherapists and mothers regarding the appropriateness of the treatment provided to, expectations from the treatment and additional therapies for the children with Down syndrome (p=0.000). There was statistically insignificant agreement regarding the applied treatment methods and awareness about the received therapies of mothers and physiotherapists (p=0.010). We believe that the views and expectations of the mothers should be taken into account by the physiotherapists when preparing a treatment program for children with Down syndrome.
