Thesis FLORISTICAL COMPOSITION OF THE AMASRA REGION Hale YATGIN Zonguldak Karaelmas University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Landscape Architecture Thesis Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet SABAZ November 1996, 321 pages. In this present study titled“Floristical Composition of the Amasra Region”, natural vegetation of the region has been investigated. On the other hand, tree, shrub and herbacious plant species which could be used in landscape architecture applications have been collected, identified and evaluated for utilization. The general characteristics of the study area (i.e. geographical location, bedrock and soil conditions and climatic situation) have been found out and plant species samples have been collected and identified at the Faculty of Forestry Herbarium of the University of Istanbul (İSTO) and also at the Faculty of PharmacologyABSTRACT (continued) Herbarium of the University of Istanbul (İSTE). These studies have been aimed at finding out the plant species suitable for landscape applications. Thus, the plant species which should be protected against unfavourable effects of urbanization and agricultural activities have been determined. Ecological and dendrological properties of these species have been examined separately and their utilization possibilities in landscape architecture applications have been evaluated.
