Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı 1970'lerden bu yana dünya çapında oyunculuk eğitimini önemli ölçüde etkilemiş olan Suzuki Oyuncu Eğitim Metodu'ndan esinlenerek bir koreografi oluşturmak ve bu doğrultuda disiplinlerarası bir eser üretmektir. Antik gelenekler ve metodları çağdaş bir yaklaşımla buluşturan ve icracının sahne üzerinde kullanacağı temel bedensel farkındalık ve hassasiyetleri keskinleştirmeyi amaçlayan metod, bu çalışmada, fiziksel bir disiplin olduğu kadar, belli sahneleme prensiplerine işaret eden bir kaynak olarak ele alınmıştır. Bu eser, icracının metodun gerekleri ve talepleriyle ilişkisini, metodun icracının bedeninde yarattığı değişimleri ve bunların sahnede nasıl ifade bulabileceğini araştırmaktadır. Bu tez eser metninde, çalışma süreci sonucunda ortaya çıkan (Asimptot) adlı eserin üretim süreci kapsamında tez araştırmasının şekillenmesi de çeşitli aşamalarıyla ele alınmaktadır.

The aim of this study is to use the Suzuki Method of Actor Training, a method which significantly affected actor training worldwide since the 1970s, as a source material to compose a choreography and to produce an interdisciplinary piece. The method takes ancient theatrical principles and traditions with a contemporary approach to sharpen the sensibilities and awareness of the actors on stage. This study takes the method not only as a physical discipline but also a set of principles towards staging and composition. It investigates the relationship of performers to the method's needs and demands, the affects of it on the performers body and how all this can manifest in performance. Conventions of Ancient Greek tragedy and theories of universal myths of the hero are used as secondary reference materials. The study also chronicles the production process of the piece Asymptote in its various stages as the culmination of this research and details how the production process affected the research itself.
