Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye'de Coğrafya Öğretmenliği Programını tercih eden öğrencilerin profillerini ve eğilimlerini belirleyerek programların mevcut durumlarından hareketle geleceğe yönelik değerlendirmeler yapmaktır. Elde edilen veriler objektif olarak sunulan resmi YÖK Atlas verilerden oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmada 2016-2019 yılları arasında Coğrafya Öğretmenliği Programını incelemek amacıyla nitel çalışmalarda kullanılan içerik analizi tekniği türlerinden betimsel içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma çalışma evrenini 2016-2019 yılları arasında Türkiye'de Coğrafya Öğretmenliği Programına yerleşen öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada seçkisiz olmayan örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme çeşidi tercih edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin analizinin yapılmasında Excel, ArcGIS 10.2.2 ve SPSS 22 paket programları kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada bulguların değerlendirilmesiyle ortaya çıkan sonuçlara göre: Genel kontenjanlar ve yerleşme oranları incelendiğinde her yıl doluluk oranının %100 olduğu, taban puan ve taban sıralamalarına göre en başarılı öğrencilerin Marmara Üniversitesini tercih ettiği görülmüştür. Cinsiyet dağılımında erkek öğrencilerin sayıca fazla olduğu bölümde, öğrencilerin önemli bir kısmının yaşadıkları il ve coğrafi bölgedeki üniversitelere yerleştikleri tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca lise türünde, Anadolu Lisesi mezunu öğrencilerin yoğunlukta olduğu, ülke geneli tercih edilme durumunun ve öğrencilerin ilk üç sırada tercih etme oranının azaldığı belirlendi. Bunun yanında öğrencilerin tercihlerinde Coğrafya Öğretmenliği Programından ziyade Türkçe ve Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Programını tercih ettiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. 2016'dan sonra Coğrafya Öğretmenliği Programına azalan talebi artırmak için Z kuşağının talep ve beklentilerine yönelik tanıtım ve rehberlik faaliyetlerinin artırılması önerilmektedir.

The purpose of this research is to make future-oriented evaluations based on the current status of the departments by determining the profiles and the tendencies of the students who chose the Department of Geography Teaching in Turkey. The data obtained consists of official Council of Higher Education (CHE) Atlas data that were presented objectively. In this study, descriptive content analysis, one of the types of content analysis techniques used in qualitative studies, was used to examine Geography Teaching Departments between the years of 2016-2019. Research population consists of students who got into the Department of Geography Education in Turkey between the years 2016-2019 Education in Turkey. In the research, criterion sampling, which is one of the types of purposeful sampling, was preferred among non-random sampling methods. Excel, ArcGIS 10.2.2 and SPSS package programs were used to analyze the data obtained. According to the results obtained from the evaluation of the findings in the research: It's been seen that when the general quotas and placement rates were examined, the occupancy rate was 100% every year, the most successful students preferred Marmara University according to the base score and base rankings. In the department where the number of male students is high in gender distribution, It has been determined that a significant portion of the students were placed in universities in the cities and geographical regions they lived in. Furthermore it has also been determined that as a type of high school, there were a great number of Anatolian High School graduates, the country-wide preferences and the rate of students' preferences in the first three places decreased. Moreover, it was concluded that the students preferred Department of Turkish Teaching and Department of Preschool Teaching rather than Geography Teaching Department. It has been suggested to increase the promotion and guidance activities for the demands and expectations of the Generation Z in order to increase the decreasing demand for Geography Teaching Program after 2016.
