Özet
Bu araştırmada, üniversite son sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik aidiyetlerinin bazı demografik değişkenlerle (okul türü, cinsiyet, üniversiteye gelmeden önce en uzun süre yaşanılan yer, anne ve baba eğitim düzeyi, anne ve baba çalışma durumu, aile yapısı, ailenin gelir durumu) ilişkisinin incelenmesi ve öğrencilerin akademik aidiyetleri üzerine etki eden faktörlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini 2018-2019 Bahar Eğitim Öğretim Yarıyılı'nda Çankırı Karatekin Üniversitesi'ne bağlı yüksekokul ve fakültelerde kayıtlı son sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Karma araştırma olarak desenlenen araştırmanın nicel kısmında araştırmaya 882 son sınıf öğrencisi katılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel boyutunun katılımcıları ise 20 son sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın nicel verilerinin analizinde aritmetik ortalama, yüzde, frekans, standart sapma istatistik teknikleri kullanılmış, ikili küme karşılaştırmaları için bağımsız gruplar t-testi; üç veya daha fazla küme karşılaştırmaları için tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel boyutunda ise 20 son sınıf öğrencisi ile üç odak grup görüşmesi yapılmış, elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel bölümü sonucunda öğrencilerin akademik aidiyet puan ortalamalarına göre orta düzeyde akademik aidiyete sahip olduğu, akademik aidiyet boyutlarında cinsiyet, okul türü, üniversiteye gelmeden önce en uzun süre yaşanılan yer ve anne çalışma durumu değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel bölümü sonucunda akademik aidiyet üzerine etki eden faktörlerin öğrenciyle ilgili faktörler ve üniversiteyle ilgili faktörler olarak iki kategori oluşturduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Akademik aidiyete etki eden öğrenciyle ilgili faktörler; arkadaşlık ilişkileri, kişisel gelişim yönelimi, statü ve saygınlık algısı, farklı olma/fark yaratmanın önemi, çabanın niteliği olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Üniversiteyle ilgili faktörler ise; öğretim üyeleri ve eğitimin niteliği, üniversitenin sosyokültürel ve fiziksel olanakları, üniversitenin kurumsal itibarı ve şehrin imkanları olarak saptanmıştır.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between academic engagement of senior university students with some demographical variables (type of school, gender, the place of residence for the longest time before coming to university, education level of mother, education level of father, working status of mother, working status of father, family structure, family income) and to determine the factors which affect academic engagement of university students. The sample of the research consists of senior students enrolled in colleges and faculties of Çankırı Karatekin University in the Spring Semester of 2018-2019. The study was designed as mixed research and 882 senior students participated in the quantitative dimension of the research. Participants of the qualitative dimension of the research consist of 20 senior students. Statistical techniques such as arithmetic mean, percentage, frequency, and standard deviation were used in the analysis of the quantitative data of the research. Independent groups t-test was used for double-cluster comparisons while one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) was used for three or more cluster comparisons. In the qualitative aspect of the study, three focus group interviews were conducted with 20 senior students, and content analysis method was used to analyse the data obtained. The quantitative results of the study revealed that according to their academic engagement score averages students had medium level of academic engagement and in the dimensions of academic engagement there were significant differences in terms of gender, type of school, the place where they lived for the longest time before coming to university, and the mother's working status. The qualitative results of the study showed that the factors affecting academic engagement constituted two categories as student-related factors and university-related factors. Student-related factors were specified as friendship relations, personal development orientation, perception of status and prestige, the importance of being different/making a difference and the quality of effort. University-related factors were determined as faculty members and the quality of education, socio-cultural and physical facilities of the university, institutional reputation of the university and the facilities of the city.
