Özet
Empresyonist müziğin en önemli bestecilerinden biri Fransız besteci Maurice Ravel'dir. Ravel klasik müzik dünyasında çok önemli bir orkestra eseri bestecisi ve orkestrasyon ustası olarak kabul edilmektedir. Klasik müzik literatüründe Ravel'in La Valse'i gibi, bestecisi tarafından farklı versiyonları oluşturulmuş eser sayısı çok fazla değildir. Bu açıdan La Valse aynı müziğin orkestra, iki piyano ve solo piyano versiyonlarını karşılaştırabilmek adına önemli bir eserdir. Ancak dünyada ve Türkiye'de eser hakkında, bestecilik alanında çalışanlara yardımcı olacak akademik araştırma ve analiz sayısı fazla değildir. Bu çalışma bahsedilen eksikliği azaltma amaçlı, iki ana bölümden oluşturulmuştur. Birinci bölümde Ravel'in hayatı, yaşadığı dönemde Fransa'nın sanatsal çerçevesi, o dönemde ortaya çıkıp bütün sanat dallarını etkileyen bir sanat akımı olarak Empresyonizm, Ravel'in müzikte Empresyonizm anlayışı, bir tür olarak“vals”ve La Valse'in de konusu olan Viyana valsi incelenmiştir. Sonra da La Valse'in önemi vurgulanıp orkestra versiyonu üzerinden teorik analizi yapılmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise La Valse'in solo piyano, iki piyano ve orkestra versiyonları enstrümantasyon ve orkestrasyon açılarından karşılaştırmalı olarak ölçü bazında incelenmiştir. Birinci bölüm için dönemin sanatsal özelliklerini ve Ravel'i araştıran çalışmalardan, kitaplardan ve orkestra versiyonunun partitüründen yararlanılmıştır. İkinci bölüm için eserin solo piyano, iki piyano ve orkestra için yazılmış nota basımları kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde tarihsel araştırma modeli, karşılaştırmalı ikinci bölümde de betimsel araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı Ravel'in bestecilik ve orkestrasyon yaklaşımını anlamak, bestecinin yarattığı aynı müziğin farklı versiyonlarını karşılaştırarak enstrümantasyon, orkestrasyon ve piyanoya uyarlama konularında kullandığı yöntemleri açığa çıkarmak, böylece Türkiye'de ve dünyada bestecilik eğitimi alanlara, verenlere ve bu alanda çalışanlara alternatif bir destek sağlamaktır.

One of the most important composers of Impressionist music is French composer Maurice Ravel. Ravel is considered to be a very important orchestral piece composer and orchestration master in the classical music world. There are not many works in the classical music literature like Ravel's La Valse, which different versions have been created by the composer. In this respect, La Valse is an important work to compare the orchestral, two pianos and solo piano versions of the same music. However in the world and in Turkey, the number of academic research and analysis that will help those working in the field of composing is not much about the work. This study is created of two main chapters for reducing the mentioned deficiency. In the first part the life of Ravel, the artistic framework of France during his lifetime, Impressionism as an art movement that influenced all branches of art emerged in that period, Ravel's understanding of Impressionism in music,“waltz”as a genre, and The Vienna Waltz which is also the subject of La Valse has been studied. After that, the importance of La Valse was emphasized and theoretical analysis was done over the orchestral version. In the second part La Valse's solo piano, two pianos and orchestral versions analyzed measure by measure in terms of instrumentation and orchestration by comparison. For the first part of the study, the works and the books investigating the artistic features of the period with Ravel, and the score of the orchestral version were used. For the second part, printed scores of the solo piano, two pianos and orchestral versions of the work were used. The historical research method was used in the first part of the study, while the descriptive research method was used in the comperative second part. The aim of the study is to understand the Ravel's composing and orchestration approach, to uncover the instrumentation, orchestration and piano adaptation methods by comparing the different versions of the same music created by the composer, thus provide an alternative support to those who learn, teach composition and works in this field in Turkey and in the world.
