Özet

This study is based on the Quranic text for it deals fully with its textual evidence in interpreting the semantic implication of each time word. The attempt starts with the definition of the lexical semantic of the word then it presents a noticeable semantic distinction between a word and its similar ones considered as synonyms. Examples are taken from the pre-Islamic poetry in order to trace back the words semantic development before and after the revelation of The Glorious Quean. Then time words mentioned in the Quran are examined thoroughly. In fact, each word is used differently and suggests many semantic implications in each text. The dissertation falls in six chapters plus a preface and a conclusion. They can be set in the following : Chapter one deals with the long time words. Chapter two tackles the short time words. Chapter three talks about the possible long and short words. Chapter four speaks about day words. Chapter five discusses night words. Chapter six sheds light on the limited time words. The long and short and possible long and short time words an arranged in alphabetical sequence for each chapter implies one semantic field. While day and night and limited time words are set according to their semantic areas, starting with the known semantic fields. Other words are organized according to their chronological sequence
