The focus in this research is how technological devices affect children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)'s engagement with school work. For this reason children's attention, interaction, success differences, their preference, enjoyment and familiarity with Tablet PC and normal material were evaluated. The study was conducted in a special education institution in Turkey. Video recording and interviews were used to collect data. There were seven participants in this study. These children with special educational needs have different sorts of disabilities. There were two sessions that were held with each child; one session was held with normal materials such as notebook, story books, and the other session was held with the tablet PC. In order to compare the difference between two sessions in terms of children's attention and interaction time: Paired Sample T- Test; to assess children's success change: Wilcoxon Test; to analyse the interviews: Thematic analyses methods were used. The results show that all disabled children's attention time was better with tablet PC when compared to normal material during the sessions. Furthermore, almost all participants expressed their enjoyment during the session with tablet PC. However, it was found that their interaction time and their success with the tablet PC were related with the chosen mobile application. If unsuitable apps were chosen, their success with normal material was found to be better than Tablet PC. Also, as some children were more familiar with the normal materials it was seen that they were favour of using their normal materials in the sessions. Children also acknowledged the multi-dimensional role of tablet PC when compared it with the normal materials that were available in the school.
