The aim of this thesis is to investigate the distribution of the logarithm of the Riemann zeta-function ζ(s) near nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zetafunction. We consider the sequences (log|ζ(ρ + z)|) and (arg ζ(ρ + z)), where ρ runs over nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta-function, 0 < =ρ ≤ T for a sufficiently large T, and z = u + iv is a nonzero complex number of sufficiently small modulus. We establish that as T → ∞, the sequence (log |ζ(ρ + z)|) has an approximate Gaussian distribution under the assumption of the Riemann hypothesis and Montgomery's Pair Correlation Conjecture. In the case of (arg ζ(ρ+z)), the sole assumption of the Riemann hypothesis is sufficient to obtain such a result. Our results can be viewed as a discrete version of Selberg's central limit theorem that is valid over a (slightly) shifted sequence of nontrivial zeros of the zetafunction.
