Teror is separated from other forms of violence because of its symbolic aspect. Terrorist organizations use violence as a communication tool, along with the intentions to gain a strategic advantage for their attacks and actions. Organisations establish their symbolic violence through time. Since different organisations are active in different environments, the symbolic language they use are also different. The aim of this paper is to compare the symbolic meanings behind the actions of two terrorist organizations (PKK and ISIS) that are ideologically and operationally different from each other and even in conflict with each other. To serve this purpose, this paper is divided into 3 main sections. In the first part, while conducting a literature survey on the concept of terrorism and motivations of terrorist behavior, the second part drew attention to the phenomenon of violence within the terrorist behavior and attempted to discuss the communicative aspect of terrorist violence by using existing academic sources..In the third part, the terrorist attacks carried out by the PKK and ISIS were tried to be investigated
