Özet
Çalışma konumuzu oluşturan sikkeler 1991 yılında Samsun ili Tekkeköy ilçesinde bulunmuş, Samsun Arkeoloji Müzesi'ne satın alma yolu ile gelmiş ve 1992 yılında müze envanterine kayıt edilmiştir. Define, Pontos Kralı VI. Mithradates Dönemi'ne (MÖ 120-63) tarihlenen toplam 3240 adet bronz sikkeden oluşmaktadır. Tekkeköy definesi içerisinde bulunan sikkeler VI. Mithradates adına; Amaseia, Amastris, Amisos, Khabakta, Gaziura, Kabeira, Komana, Pimolisa ve Sinope kentleri tarafından darp edilmişlerdir. Define kapsamındaki sikkelerin 14'ü Amaseia, 2461'i Amisos, 12'si Gaziura, 45'i Kabeira, 36'sı Khabakta, 128'i Komana, 2'si Taulara, 238'i Amastris, 9'u Pimolisa ve 295'i Sinope'de darp edilmiştir. Define içerisindeki sikke betimlerinde 4 farklı tip görülmektedir. Bunlar; Aigis-Nike, Athena-Perseus, Ares-kın içinde kılıç ve Zeus-kartal tipleridir. Pontos Kralı VI. Mithradates'in Pers soyundan gelmesi sebebiyle Perslerin efsanevi atası olarak kabul edilen Perseus'a ait sikke tipleri Hellenistik Dönem'de birçok kent tarafından basılmıştır. Bu tipteki sikkelerin ön yüzünde, Attika miğferi giymiş sağa bakan Athena büstü yer alırken, arka yüzünde sol elinde Medusa'nın kesilen başı ve sağ elinde bir harpa tutan, Perseus vardır. Bir diğer sikke tipinin ise, ön yüzünde Aigis içerisinde Medusa başı, arka yüzünde ise, omzunda palmiye dalı taşıyan Nike figürü bulunmaktadır. Define içerisindeki diğer sikke tiplerinde ise; Zeus-kartal ve Ares-kın içinde kılıç betimlenmiştir. Tez kapsamında Hellenistik Döneme tarihlenen 3240 sikkenin tipolojik, lejand ve metrolojik açıdan kataloğu yapılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca Sikkelerin, tiplerine ve darphanelerine göre dağılımları verilerek değerlendirilmiştir. VI. Mithradates Dönemi'ne ait sikkelerin bulunduğu farklı yayınlar incelenerek çalışma konusu ile karşılaştırmaları yapılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında define içerisindeki, sikkelerin ön ve arka yüzlerindeki mitolojik betimlemeler tanıtılarak bu mitolojik figürlerin sikkeler üzerine darp edilme nedenleri ve ikonografik özellikleri üzerinde de durulmuştur.

The coins, which constitute our study subject, came to Samsun Archeology Museum in 1991 by purchasing and were recorded in the museum inventory in 1992. It consists of a total of 3240 bronze coins dated to the Period of Mithradates VI, King of Pontus (120-63 BC). The coins found in the Mithradates VI Hoard in the Samsun Archaeological Museum are in the name of MithradatesVI; They were battered by the cities of Amaseia, Amastris, Amisos, Khabakta, Gaziura, Kabeira, Komana, Pimolisa and Sinope. The coins within the scope of the hoard were minted 14 coins in the city of Amaseia, 2461 in the city of Amisos, 12 in the city of Gaziura, 45 in the city of Kabeira, 36 in the city of Khabakta, 128 in the city of Komana, 2 in the city of Taulara, 238 in the city of Amastris, 9 in the city of Pimolisa and 295 in the city of Sinope. There are 4 different types in the coin descriptions in the hoard. These types are III according to the grouping made by Imhoof-Blumer and IV. is in the group. Coin types belonging to Perseus, who is accepted as the legendary ancestor of the Persians due to the Persian descent of Mithradates VI, King of Pontos, were minted by many cities during the Hellenistic Period. On the obverse of this type of coins, there is a bust of Athena, wearing an Attic helmet, facing right, while on the reverse is Perseus holding the severed head of Medusa in his left hand and a harpa in his right hand. Another type of coin has the head of Medusa in Aigis on the obverse, and the figure of Nike on the reverse, carrying a palm branch on her shoulder. In other coin types in the hoard; Zeus-eagle and Ares head-sword inside the scabbard are depicted. 3240 coins dated to the Hellenistic Period were cataloged and evaluated in terms of typology, legend and metrology. The distribution of coins according to their types and mints has been evaluated. Different publications with coins belonging to the Mithradates VI Period were examined and their comparisons with the study subject were made. Within the scope of the study, the mythological descriptions on the observe and reverse of the coins were introduced, and the reasons for the minting of these mythological figures on the coins, as well as their iconography, were emphasized.
