Özet
Amaç: Bu araştırmada, farklı eğitim kademelerinde (anaokulu, ilkokul, ortaokul ve lise) görev yapan öğretmenlerin mesleki imajının mevcut durumunun öğretmenler ve okul yöneticileri aracılığı ile tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Bu araştırmada, nicel ve nitel verilerin ayrı toplandığı, birleştirme (çeşitleme) deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutundaki evrenini 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında, Erzurum ili Yakutiye ilçesinde bulunan resmi eğitim kurumlarının anaokulu, ilkokul, ortaokul ve lise kademesinde görev yapan 2390 öğretmen ve okul yöneticisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi ise tabakalı örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 517 öğretmenden ve 57 okul yöneticisinden oluşmaktadır. Nitel çalışma grubunu, nicel çalışma yapılırken ölçeği cevaplandıran ve nitel çalışma için gönüllü olduğunu bildiren farklı branşlardaki 27 okul yöneticisi ve öğretmenler oluşturmuştur. Nicel veriler, Doğan (2018) tarafından geliştirilen 'Öğretmenlik Mesleği İmaj Ölçeği' ile nitel veriler ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde sırasıyla, frekans tabloları, madde ve boyut analizleri; demografik değişkenlere göre, bağımsız gruplar t testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA); farklılaşan grupların tespiti için, Post Hoc testlerinden Bonferroni testi kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizlerinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Nicel analiz bulgularına göre öğretmenlik mesleği imajının orta düzeyde olduğu, toplumsal algı ve medya boyutunda çok düşük, öğretmenlerin mesleki ve kişisel özellikleri, statü ve mesleki cazibe boyutlarında ise iyi düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmenlik mesleği imajında cinsiyet, görev, yaş ve kıdem değişkenlerine göre gruplar arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan nitel analiz bulgularına göre öğretmenlik mesleği imajının olumsuz olduğu ve bunun sebeplerinin neler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuçlar: Yapılan nicel analiz sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlik mesleği imajının orta düzeyde olduğu, nitel analiz sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlik mesleği imajının olumsuz olduğu ve yapılan nicel analizlerden bazı demografik değişkenlere göre öğretmenlik mesleği imajının farklılaştığı tespit edilmiştir. Nitel analiz sırasında öğretmenlik mesleği imajını etkileyen faktörler katılımcı görüşlerine göre belirlenmiş ve imajın geliştirilmesi için öneriler sunulmuştur.

Purpose: In this research, it is aimed to determine the current status of the professional image of teachers working at different education levels (kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and high school) through teachers and school administrators. Method: In this study, a merging (variation) design, in which quantitative and qualitative data were collected separately, was used. The population in the quantitative dimension of the research consists of 2390 teachers and school administrators working in the kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school levels of official education institutions in the Yakutiye district of Erzurum in the 2020-2021 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 517 teachers and 57 school administrators selected by stratified sampling method. The qualitative study group consisted of 27 school administrators and teachers from different branches who answered the scale while conducting the quantitative study and stated that they volunteered for the qualitative study. Quantitative data were collected with the“Teaching Profession Image Scale”developed by Doğan (2018), and qualitative data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. In the analysis of quantitative data, frequency tables, item and dimension analyzes, respectively; by demographic variables, independent groups t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA); Bonferroni test, one of the Post Hoc tests, was used to determine the differentiating groups. Content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. Findings: According to the quantitative analysis findings, it has been determined that the image of the teaching profession is at a medium level, it is very low in the dimensions of social perception and media, and it is at a good level in the dimensions of teachers' professional and personal characteristics, status and professional attraction. It has been determined that there is a significant difference between the groups in terms of gender, duty, age and seniority in the image of the teaching profession. According to the qualitative analysis findings, it has been determined that the image of the teaching profession is negative and what are the reasons for this. Conclusions: According to the results of the quantitative analysis, it has been determined that the image of the teaching profession is at a moderate level, the image of the teaching profession is negative according to the results of the qualitative analysis, and the image of the teaching profession differs according to some demographic variables from the quantitative analysis. During the qualitative analysis, the factors affecting the image of the teaching profession were determined according to the views of the participants and suggestions were made to improve the image.
