Özet
Bu araştırmada, milliyetçiliği açıklamak amacı ile sosyal bilimciler tarafından geliştirilen“milliyetçilik kuramları”ndaki eğitim ile ilgili içeriği tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Milliyetçilik, 1789 Fransız Devrimi'nin ardından on dokuzuncu yüzyılda Avrupa'da ortaya çıkmış ve sonrasında bütün dünyada etkili olmuş modern bir siyasal ideolojidir. Öte yandan eğitim de milliyetçi ideolojinin ortaya çıktığı dönemde hem biçim hem de içerik açısından önemli bir dönüşüm geçirmiştir. Modern dünyada eğitimin biçim ve içerik açısından geçirdiği dönüşümün milliyetçilik ile de yakından ilgisi bulunmaktadır. Ancak milliyetçilik kavramının, sosyal bilimlerin başta siyaset bilimi ve sosyoloji gibi disiplinler olmak üzere bilimsel bir yaklaşımla ele alınması, yirminci yüzyılda gerçekleşmiştir. Yirminci yüzyılda yapılan milliyetçiliğe yönelik araştırmalar, milliyetçiliği ele alma biçimleri bakımından“ilkçi”,“modernist”,“etno-sembolist”ve“post-modernist”milliyetçilik kuramları olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Araştırmada milliyetçilik kuramlarının eğitim ile ilgili içeriği doküman incelemesi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın“İlkçi Yaklaşım ve Eğitim”başlıklı ilk kısmında, millet olgusunun, doğuştan kazanıldığı yönündeki savların, eğitim olgusunu geri plana attığı tespit edilmiştir.“Modernist Milliyetçilik Kuramları ve Eğitim”başlıklı ikinci kısımda, millet ve milliyetçiliğin son birkaç yüzyıla ait modern yapılar olduğu ve eğitimin de milliyetçiliğin ortaya çıkıp yaygınlaşmasında etkili olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. ''Etno-Sembolist Yaklaşım ve Eğitim'' başlıklı üçüncü kısımda, eğitim olgusunun etnisite ile ilişkili olduğu ve toplumsal kategorilere göre şekillendiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Böylece Etno-sembolist yaklaşıma göre, modern eğitim sistemlerinin de geçmişe dayalı olarak şekillendiği tespit edilmiştir.“Postmodern Milliyetçilik Yaklaşımları ve Eğitim”başlıklı son kısımda ise, Doğulu sömürge ülkelerindeki milliyetçilik hareketleri temelinde eğitimin, milliyetçi hareketlerini etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Eğitimin farklı milliyetçilik kuramları çerçevesinde incelenmesi, mevcut araştırmanın özgünlüğünü ve önemini ortaya koymaktadır.

The aim of this study is to determine the educational content in“theories of nationalism”, which were developed by social scientists to explain nationalism. Nationalism is a modern political ideology that emerged in Europe in the 19th century after the French Revolution of 1789 and then became influential all over the world. On the other hand, education also underwent an important transformation in terms of both content and form during the period when nationalist ideology emerged. The transformation of education in the modern world in terms of form and content is closely related to nationalism. However, the concept of nationalism began to be discussed with a scientific approach in social sciences, especially in disciplines such as politics and sociology, in the 20th century. Researches on nationalism in the 20th century are called as“primordialist”,“modernist”,“ethno-symbolist”and“postmodernist”theories of nationalism in terms of their way of discussing nationalism. In the study, educational content of theories of nationalism were analyzed with document analysis method. In the first part of the study entitled“Primordialist Approach and Education”, it was found that arguments of the phenomenon of nation being innate put the phenomenon of education into the background. In the second part entitled“Modernist Nationalism Theories and Education”, it was found that nation and nationalism are modern structures of the last few centuries and education is also effective in the emergence and spread of nationalism. In the third section titled“EthnoSymbolist Approach and Education”, it is revealed that the phenomenon of education is related to ethnicity and is shaped according to social categories. Thus, according to the ethno-symbolist approach, it has been determined that modern education systems are shaped based on the past just like nations. In the last part entitled“Postmodern Nationalism Approaches and Education”, it was found that education affects nationalist movements on the basis of nationalist movements in the eastern colonial countries. Examination of education within the framework of different theories of nationalism shows the originality and importance of the study.
