Özet

Çalışmamızın ana konusu olan ezber, geçmişten günümüze günlük hayattaki iş ve işlemlerde kullanılmış, hitabetten edebiyata, matematikten kimyaya, dini öğretilerden felsefeye birçok alanda insanlığa hizmet etmiştir. Ezber, özellikle günümüz dünyasında eğitim sistemi içinde çokça tartışılan bir mesele haline gelmiştir. Bir kısım düşünür ezberi“kadim ve vazgeçilemez bir yöntem”olarak görürken; diğer bir kısım düşünür, ezberin“beynin işlevselliğine ve düşünme yetisine ket vuran bir pranga ve eğitimdeki başarısızlığın temel sebebi”olduğunu savunmuştur. Araştırmanın amacı, bu iki görüşe ait fikirleri ele alarak ezberin yarar ve zararlarını saptamak, eğitim kuram/yaklaşımlarında ezberin yerini belirlemektir. İlk çağlardan günümüze ezberin eğitimdeki konumu, dini ilimler ve pozitif bilimlerdeki kullanımı irdelenmiştir. Neticede ezberin, tekrar ve deneyimlerle yaşantıya dönüştürülmesinin ve pratik hayata uyarlanmasının gerekliliği anlaşılmış; eleştirilenin ezberden ziyade ezberciliğin“mekanik öğrenme, bilgiyi anlamlandırmama, başka olay ve durumlara uyarlamadan tek yönlü ve pasif kullanma”olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Ezber metoduna dair sergilenecek en doğru tutum, onu; bir temel ve başlangıç noktası olarak görmek, bu yolla elde edilen kazanımı; kavrama, anlama, deneyimleme ve mevcut durumlara uyarlama seviyesine çıkarma çabası taşımak olmalıdır.

Memorization, which is the main subject of our study, has been used in the daily work and transactions of the individual from the past to the present, from oratory to literature, from mathematics to chemistry, from religious teachings to philosophy and has served humanity in. Memorization has become a much-debated issue in the education system, especially in today's world. While some thinkers see memorization as an ancient and indispensable method, others argue that memorization is a shackle that inhibits the brain's functionality and thinking ability, and is the main reason for failure in education. The aim of the research is to determine the benefits and harms of memorization by considering the ideas of these two views, and to determine the place of memorization in educational theories and approaches. The position of memorization in education from the first ages to the present, its use in religious sciences and positive sciences have been examined. As a result, the necessity of transforming memorization into life through repetition and experience and adapting it to practical life was understood, the criticism memorization rather than rote,“mechanical learning, not making sense of information, one-way and passive use without adapting to other events and situations”it has been concluded that. The most correct attitude to be exhibited about the memorization method; to see it as a foundation and starting point, the gain obtained in this way; It should be an effort to grasp, understand, experience and adapt to current situations
