Özet
Geçmişten günümüze pek çok sanatçı defter tutmuş ve bu defterleri çeşitli şekillerde kullanmıştır. Sergilerde de yer alan ve birçok serginin konusu da olan sanatçı defterleri zamanla araçtan amaç konuma gelerek eser olarak da üretilmiştir. Ancak bu noktada sanat eseri olarak defterin sanatçı kitabı alanına dahil olduğu görülür. 20. yüzyılda kitabın yeni anlatım olanaklarının keşfedilmesiyle bir sanat biçimine dönüşmüş olan sanatçı kitabı sanat ortamındaki değişimin bir ürünüdür. Bu süreç sanatçıların defterin yeni olanaklarını keşfetmesiyle benzer özellikler göstermektedir. Sanatçı defteri bağlamında defterin sanatçılar için işlevselliğini belirlemek ve sanatçı kitabı bağlamında defter ve kitabın neden ve nasıl sanatsal bir ifade biçimine dönüştüğünü ortaya koymak için yapılan bu çalışmada ilk olarak defter ve kitap formunun matbaa öncesi dönemde geçirdiği değişimler ele alınmıştır. Sanatçı defterlerinin ele alındığı üçüncü bölümde; Orta Çağ model kitaplarından sanatçı defterine geçiş süreci, Rönesans Dönemi'nde sanatçıları defter tutmaya sevk eden nedenler ve Rönesans'tan günümüze sanatçı defterlerinden örnekler incelenmiştir. Daha sonra Türk Resim Sanatında sanatçı defterleri ve bu bağlamda düzenlenen sergiler ortaya koyulmuştur. Son olarak incelenen tüm defterler bağlamında sanatçılar için defterin işlevselliği, sanat eseri olarak defter ve sanatçı kitabı arasındaki bağlantıyla birlikte irdelenmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde, sanatçı kitabının ortaya çıkışı ve tanımı üzerine yapılan tartışmalara yer verilmiş ve sanatçı kitaplarının tarihsel arka planı incelenmiştir. Daha sonra 20.yüzyıl ve sonrası sanatçı kitapları üretilen eserler, düzenlenen organizasyonlar, sergiler ve kataloglarla ortaya koyulmuştur. Sanatçı defteri ve sanatçı kitabı arasındaki ilişki ve sanatçı kitabının video sanatı, performans sanatı gibi bir sanat biçimi olarak sanata dahil edilmesinin gündeme gelmesi elde edilen bulgularla sonuç ve tartışma bölümünde sunulmuştur.

From the past to the present, many artists have kept sketchbooks and used these sketchbooks in various ways. The artist's sketchbooks, which are also included in the exhibitions and are the subject of many exhibitions, have been produced as works by changing from a tool to an aim over time. However, at this point, it is seen that the sketchbook as a work of art is included in the field of the artists' book. The artists' book, which has turned into an art form with the discovery of new expressive possibilities of the book in the 20th century, is a product of the change in the art environment. This process is similar to the artist's exploration of the new possibilities of the sketchbook. This study was carried out to determine the functionality of the sketchbook for the artists in the context of the artist's sketchbook and to reveal why and how the sketchbook and the book turned into an artistic expression in the context of the artist's book, the changes that the notebook and book form underwent in the pre-printing period were first discussed. The third part deals with the artist's sketchbooks; The transition process from the medieval model books to the sketchbooks, the reasons that prompted the artists to keep sketchbooks in the Renaissance Period, and examples of artist sketchbooks from the Renaissance to the present were examined. Later, artist sketchbooks in Turkish Painting Art and exhibitions organized in this context were put forward. Finally, in the context of all the sketchbooks examined, the functionality of the sketchbook for the artists was examined together with the connection between the sketchbook as a work of art and the artists' book. In the fourth part, the discussions on the emergence and definition of the artists' books are included and the historical background of the artists' books is examined. Later, artists' books of the 20th century and beyond were put forward with the works produced, organizations, exhibitions, and catalogs. The relationship between the artist's sketchbook and the artist's book and the inclusion of the artist's book in art as an art form such as video art and performance art are presented in the conclusion and discussion section with the findings obtained.
