Domestic violence is widespread in Turkey and all over world, however, it is becoming a more sensitive issue day by day. As in most countries, there are violence intervention centers in Turkey to help and support violence victims. Although many studies have been conducted with victims of violence, there is not much information or study in the literature about professional staff working with victims of violence. It can be assumed that working with violence victims and witnessing violence continually in the violence intervention centers could affect the professionals mostly in negative ways. On the other hand, work stress and job burnout are the common problems of our age which they are frequently discussed. In this study, the stress and burnout levels of professional staff working with victims of violence at a violence intervention center in Turkey, were examined. 1 psychologist, 1 sociologist, 2 social workers working at the violence intervention center and 2 of social workers working at the shelter for violence victims are consisted the participants' professionals. Focus group interview, was used in this research which aims to understand and interpret the work stress and job burnout experienced by professionals working in a violence intervention center in Turkey. High level of work stress and burnout in employees who work with violence victims are reported by the participants. However, excessive workload, lack of law and respect, depersonalization, low job satisfaction were maintaned the other findings of the study.
