Özet (Çeviri)
The Black Sea plays a key role in Turkish fisheries. In the ecosystem dominated by a wide 34 variety of fisheries, there are knowledge gaps related to the Illegal, Unreported, and 35 Unregulated (IUU) fishing problems such as bycatch and overexploitation of both fish species 36 and other marine species. When there is lack of information, data-poor approaches can be 37 effective instruments for managing and conserving marine communities that are at risk. 38 Productivity susceptibility analysis (PSA), a semi-quantitative method that quickly and cost39 effectively assesses the vulnerability of species due to their biological productivity and 40 susceptibility, is widely used. In this study, 44 fish species and three elasmobranchs, and three 41 marine mammals vulnerabilities in the Black Sea ecosystem were evaluated based on five 42 productivity attributes and seven susceptibility attributes. Moreover, a) PSA vulnerability and 43 IUCN red list status were compared; b) Principal component analysis (PCA) was used as a 44 visualisation technique to see which attributes contributed more; c) data quality was assessed. 45 The 50 species were divided into low (33 species), medium (6 species), and high (11 species) 46 vulnerability groups based on the PSA results. Cetaceans, elasmobranchs, and sturgeons were 47 highly vulnerable (because of their life history attributes and size), while bluefish and pontic 48 shad were determined as highly vulnerable (because of overfishing and overexploitation). With 49 a few exceptions, the IUCN red list and PSA results matched each other. In PCA, it was seen 50 that fish species and other species were clearly separated. In the 1st component, reproduction 51 strategy and fecundity were positively related and determined to contribute. While in the second 52 component, it was seen that the commercial values of the species contributed. Most of the 53 species' data quality was moderate but poor for sturgeons. Therefore, the minimum landing size 54 (MLS) should be included and extended in the management strategy for especially bluefish and 55 pontic shad with high levels of vulnerability. Additionally, it is essential to establish 56 quantitative stock assessments to manage these species better. Regarding the multispecies and 57 multifisheries connection in the Black Sea, PSA was also discovered to be a valuable method 58 for identifying and prioritising relatively vulnerable species. 59 60 Keywords 61 62 Productivity Susceptibility Analysis (PSA) – Vulnerability – Principal Component Analysis 63 (PCA) – Black Sea – Risk Assessment - Multispecies
