Özet
Fotoğraf literatüründe trajedileri konu alan haber fotoğrafları ve belgesel fotoğrafların güzelleştirilmesini konu alan bir diyalog süregelmektedir. Bu diyalog kapsamında trajedi fotoğraflarının güzelleştirilmesi genel olarak bir sorun olarak ifade bulmaktadır ancak fotoğrafçıların söz konusu sorunla nasıl başa çıkabileceklerine öneriler getirilmemektedir. Bu tez önce ortak özellikler dikkate alınarak kompozisyon kurallarının nasıl sınıflara ayrılabileceği sorusunu sonra hangi sınıfta yer alan kompozisyon kurallarının kullanımının fotoğrafların güzelleştirilmesini sınırlayabileceği sorusunu cevaplamaya çalışarak trajedi fotoğraflarının güzelleştirilmesi sorununa bir çözüm getirmeye çalışmıştır. Tez, haber fotoğrafları ve belgesel fotoğraflar tasarlanırken ifadesel kompozisyon kuralları olarak sınıflandırılabilecek kurallardan yararlanılmasının fotoğrafların güzelleştirilmesini sınırladığı ana sonucuna ulaşmıştır. Tez kapsamında ele alınan konular arasında tezin sınırlarını belirleyen iyi ahlakın ve güzelliğin yanı sıra haber ve belgesel fotoğrafların neler oldukları bulunmaktadır. Ele alınan diğer konular arasında trajedi fotoğrafları kapsamında fotoğrafın hangi özelliklerinden yararlanıldığı, trajedileri konu alan haber fotoğrafçıları ve belgesel fotoğrafçıların fotoğraflarını tasarlarken ahlaki sorumluluklarının neler olduğu, trajedileri konu alan haber fotoğrafları ve belgesel fotoğrafların yayınlanmalarının neden önemli olduğu yer almaktadır. Bu konular işlenirken fotoğrafların doğası gereği konusunu güzelleştirdiği iddialarının doğru olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ulaşılan bir diğer sonuç ise, haber fotoğrafçılarının ve belgesel fotoğrafçıların fotoğraf çekerken nesnel bir yaklaşım yerine iyi ahlakı temel alan bir yaklaşımla hareket etmelerinin daha iyi sonuçlar ortaya koyabildiğidir.

In photography literature, there is an ongoing dialogue about the beautification of news and documentary photographs about tragedies. Within the scope of this dialogue the beautification of tragedy photographs is generally expressed as a problem, but no suggestions are made on how photographers can deal with this problem. This thesis attempted to offer a solution to the problem of beautification of tragedy photographs by trying to answer first the question of how composition rules can be divided into classes, considering their common features, then the question of the use of which class of composition rules can limit the beautification of tragedy photographs. The thesis has reached the main conclusion that while designing news and documentary photographs the use of rules that can be classified as expressive composition rules limits the beautification of photographs. Among the topics covered in the thesis are the definitions of good morals, beauty, and news and documentary photographs which define the boundaries of the thesis. Other topics covered include what features of photography are utilised within the framework of tragedy photographs, what the moral responsibilities of news and documentary photographers while designing tragedy photographs, and why it is important to publish news and documentary photographs about tragedies. While these subjects were being covered, it has been concluded that the claims that photographs inherently beautify their subject were not true. Another conclusion reached is that news and documentary photographers can produce better results if they act with an approach based on good morals instead of an objective approach when taking photographs.
