Özet
ÖZET Bu araştırma, İlköğretim 5. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitapları hakkında öğretmen ve müfettişlerin görüşlerini almak ve ortaya çıkacak sonuçlara göre Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitapları üzerine bazı önerilerde bulunmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Ankara ili merkez ilçelerine bağlı sınıf öğretmenleri ve Ankara ili merkez ilköğretim okullarını denetleyen müfettişler oluşturmaktadır. Örnekleme random yoluyla seçilen 21 ilköğretim okulundaki 226 öğretmen ve Ankara ilinde görevli 41 müfettiş dahildir. Araştırma betimsel niteliktedir. Öğretmen ve müfettişlerin görüşleri anket yoluyla alınarak incelenmiştir. Ankette toplam 40 madde bulunmaktadır. Bu maddeler içerisinde açık uçlu sorulara yer verilerek öğretmen ve müfettiş görüşleri belirginleştirilmiştir. Öğretmen ve müfettişlerin görüş ve önerilerini belirlemek için verilen cevapların frekans ve yüzde dağılımları tablolaştırılmıştır. Öğretmen ve müfettiş görüşleri arasındaki farklılık için Mann Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; öğretmen ve müfettişlerin görüşleri doğrultusunda 5. sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitaplarının içerik, görsel-teknik düzen ve dil özellikleri yönünden bazı sorunlar taşıdığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitaplarının sekiz yıllık temel eğitim düşünülerek yeniden oluşturulması, görsel-teknik düzen ile dil özelliklerini geliştirici düzenlemelerin yapılması gerekliliği ortaya çıkmıştır, öğretmen ve müfettiş görüşleri arasında (içerikle ilgili birkaç madde dışında) anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır, öğretmen ve müfettişlerin, kitapların geliştirilmesine yönelik önerilerine de yer verilmiştir.

SUMMARY This research was done in order to ask for the opinions of the teachers and the inspectors about the 5 th. class Social Sciences coursebooks in the primary education and to give some suggestions on social sciences coursebooks in accordance with the results of the research. The scope of the research consists of the primary school teachers who are in the administrative districts of central Ankara and it also consists of the inspectors who check the primary schools in the city centre of Ankara. 226 teachers, who work in 21 consisted of randomly selected primary schools, and the inspectors, who are appointed in Ankara, are included in the research. The quality of the research is descriptive. The ideas of the teachers and the inspectors were examined by means of a questionnaire. The questionnaire includes totally 40 items. The ideas of the teachers and the inspectors were clarified by including open-ended questions in these items. The frequency and percentage distribution of the answers given were displayed in a table to determine the teacher-inspector suggestions. Mann Whitney U test was used for the difference between the ideas of the teachers and the inspectors. As a result of this research, it was determined according to the opinions of teachers and inspectors that Social Sciences coursebooks had some problems in terms of their content, visual-technique order and language. In addition to that, it was concluded that Social Sciences coursebooks should be reformed in accordance with the new term of compulsery education of eight years and new regulations should be performed regarding to the progression of characteristics of visual-tecnique order and language. It was also found that there were no significant difference between the opinions of teachers and inspectors except some items related to the content. Proposals of teachers and inspectors with respect to the progression of books were also taken into consideration.
