Özet
Bu çalışma, kamusal entelektüellerin 1980'lerden sonra sivil ve siyasal toplumla tarihsel, ekonomik ve kültürel etkileşimlerini inceleyerek Türkiye'deki toplumsal dönüşümlerdeki rolünü analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Genel olarak bu tez, bu entelektüellerin Türk toplumundaki kültürel reformlara, siyasi süreçlere ve değişen kolektif bilince katkılarını, söylemlerinin analizi ve sosyal gruplarla ve medyayla ilişkileri aracılığıyla incelemektedir. İlk olarak bu tez, 1980'ler sonrasında kamusal entelektüellerin ortaya çıkışını analiz etmektedir. Analiz, bu entelektüellerin ordunun hegemonik konumuna karşı dönüşüm yanlısı liberal-sağ karşı-hegemonik alana katılımlarını anlatmaktadır. Bu açıdan çalışma, entelektüellerin yeni ortaya çıkan özel medya kurumları içindeki faaliyetlerini, anti-militarizmin genişlemesi ve ikinci cumhuriyetin ortaya çıkışı konusundaki söylemleriyle, aynı zamanda İslami hareketlerin kamusal alana dahil edilmesine yönelik İslami modernizmin yolunu açmalarını da ortaya koymaktadır. İkinci olarak bu tez, 2000'li yılların reformist siyasi hareketi AK Parti'de ortaya çıkan dönüşüm yanlısı liberal-sağ tarihsel bloku incelemektedir. Buradaki analiz, ordunun sivil siyaset tarafından kontrolüne yönelik reformları, Türk toplumunda İslami söylem ve görünürlüğün artışı ve ayrıca Kürtlerin kamusal alana katılımını meşrulaştırmada kamusal entelektüellerin bir entelektüel blok olarak işlevine dayanmaktadır. Üçüncüsü, bu çalışma, entelektüel blokun genel olarak dağılması yoluyla dönüşüm yanlısı liberal-sağ tarihsel bloğun dağılması ile 2010 sonrası gelişmelerin analizlerini sunuyor. Analiz, dönüşüm yanlısı sol karşı-hegemonik alanın bu dönemde ortaya çıkışını ve gelişimini ortaya koymaktadır.

This dissertation aims to analyze the role of public intellectuals in the social transformations in Turkey by examining their historical, economic, and cultural interaction with civil and political society after the 1980s. Overall, this dissertation examines the contribution of these intellectuals to the cultural reforms, political processes and changing collective consciousness in Turkish society, through an analysis of their original discourses and their engagement with social groups and the media. First, this project analyzes the emergence of public intellectuals in the post-1980s. The analysis describes these intellectuals' engagement in the pro-transformation liberal-right counter-hegemonic sphere against the hegemonic position of the military. This engagement includes the intellectuals' activity within a newly emerged private media, with their influential discourses on widening anti-militarism and the emergence of a second republic, as well as their paving the way for Islamic modernism toward the inclusion of the pro-Islamic movements in the public sphere. Second, this dissertation examines the pro-transformation liberal-right historical bloc that emerged from the reformist political movement AKP of the 2000s. The analysis here is based on the function of public intellectuals as an intellectual bloc in legitimizing, e.g., reforms for civilian control of the military, the Islamization of the Turkish society, as well as Kurdish involvement in the public sphere. Third, this project delivers analyses of post-2010 developments by representing the dissolution of the pro-transformation liberal-right historical bloc through the dissolution of the intellectual bloc overall. The analysis presents the emergence and development in this period of the pro-transformation left counter-hegemonic sphere.
