Özet

While considering Museums are deep-rooted institutions, predictably they have motives and missions for society. Likewise, they are the place providing enlightening and educational experiences, supporting the community as well as proving the public trust. From an architectural standpoint, heriAtage buildings tend to be museums and exhibition halls that enhance the meaning of the big picture re-designed in order to change attitudes, modify behaviors and increase the availability of knowledge. Exhibition lightings' significance occurs in the objective of displaying exhibits in a way of penetrating the information necessary for learning, creating an adequate atmosphere and aesthetic to immerse visitors into the story. In a historical building full of archeological and historical artifacts, what are the visitors' behavioral and emotional tendencies, and how can lighting design fulfill these requirements? What extent do contemporary additions to heritage buildings influence lighting design? Additionally, the use of digital technologies in contemporary exhibitions, design approaches, and museum-user relations has changed and the interaction has become much more essential. On the other hand, nowadays, besides all impacts of technological developments, the prevention of widespread pandemic circumstances is changing the usage of technical equipment and interactions in museums as a whole. Therefore, observing the new design language of museum exhibitions by guaranteeing preventive conservation and protection is possible by examining the "Sadberk Hanım Museum'' located in Istanbul, Golden Horn. This existing building is taking its new place in a heritage building under renovation and in contextual architecture. Consequently, it is chosen to practice methods, achieve the success of transmitting the message and introduce an optimal toolset of lighting design with the aim of stimulating the visitor's visual, auditory and emotional senses.
