Özet
Okurun kitap seçiminde kitabın konusu, okurun cinsiyeti, yaşı, kitabın sayfa sayısı veya kapağında bulunan görsellerin ilgi çekiciliği gibi faktörlerin etkisi olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı bu faktörlerden okurun cinsiyetinin okurun kitap konusu tercihine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma 2020-2021 eğitim öğretim yılında Adana'da, iki ortaokulda 7. ve 8. sınıfta okuyan kız ve erkek öğrencilerle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu araştırmanın sonucu, öğretmenlerin ya da ebeveynlerin çocuklara kitap tercih ederken başvuracakları bir kaynak olması bakımından önemlidir. Ayrıca çocuk edebiyatı çalışmalarında cinsiyetin konu seçimine etkisi hakkındaki genel yargıların doğruluğun test edilmesine yardımcı olmuştur. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi, öğrencilerin düşüncelerini derinlemesine görebilmek için tercih edilmiştir. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmış olup görüşmeler, öğrencilerle yüz yüze yapılmıştır. 60'ı kız, 58'i erkek olmak üzere toplamda 118 öğrenci ile görüşme sağlanmıştır. Görüşmeler içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Bu araştırmanın sonucunda ortaya çıkan verilerin bundan sonra yapılacak çocuk edebiyatı araştırmaları için örnek bir çalışma olması beklenmektedir.

It is known that factors such as the subject of the book, the gender of the reader, the age of the reader, the number of pages of the book or the attractiveness of the visuals on the cover have an effect on the reader's choice of book. The aim of this research is to examine the effect of the gender of the reader, one of these factors, on the reader's choice of book subject. The research was carried out with 8th and 7th grade girls and boys in two secondary schools in Adana in the 2020-2021 academic year. The result of this research is important in terms of being a resource that teachers or parents will refer to when choosing books for children. In addition, it was possible to test the accuracy of general judgments about the effect of gender on subject selection in children's literature studies. In this study, the qualitative research method was preferred in order to see the thoughts of the students in depth. A semi-structured interview form was used and the interviews were conducted face to face with the students. A total of 118 students were interviewed, 60 of whom were girls and 58 were boys. The interviews were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The data obtained as a result of this research is expected to be an exemplary study for future children's literature research.
