INVESTIGATION OF THE GENERAL SPONTANEOUS MOVEMENTS OF FULL-TERM SMALL FOR GESTATIONAL AGE INFANTS ABSTRACT Introduction: Infants born with a birth weight below the 10th percentile for their gestational age are classified as Small for Gestational Age (SGA). The motor development of SGA infants remains a topic of debate due to the lack of consensus in the literature. 'General Movements (GMs)' are complex movement patterns that occur spontaneously and exhibit a rich repertoire in the fetus from the 9th week of gestation and continue until the postterm period of 4-5 months in newborns. The evaluation of GMs, also known as Prechtl's Analysis, is a video observation and analysis method that examines the characteristics of movements during the period in which GMs are observed. The evaluation of GMs performed during the postnatal period in preterm and/or term infants has a high predictive value for future neurological problems, particularly cerebral palsy (CP). Numerous studies have reported that the assessment conducted between the 2nd and 5th month of the postterm period has a significantly high predictive value and is associated with long-term neurological outcomes. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of SGA infants on their early neurological development and general spontaneous movements. In this way, this will allow us to obtain information that will contribute significantly to understanding the early process of neurodevelopmental delays that may be seen in the long term and, if necessary, enabling early intervention. Method and Materials: In our study, GMs evaluation; a study investigating the general spontaneous movements of mature SGA infants; included mature SGA infants born between 2022-2023 who presented to the Kayseri City Hospital Neonatal outpatient clinic and/or were identified during maternal examination with a gestational age of 38 weeks and above. The research was conducted as a single-center study. During the term period, each case was recorded with a total of 2 video recordings, one between the 38th and 44th weeks for movements, excluding the first 3 days following the baby's birth, and one video between the 54th and 58th weeks for FMs, and the babies were followed up. During video shoots, attention is given to the times when the baby is not crying and is peaceful, and breaks are taken when necessary. It is also noted that no footage is taken during the first 3 days after birth and in the 2nd month. Additionally, there are no distracting objects such as toys or mirrors around the baby, and it is preferred for the baby to be as naked as possible (only with a diaper or swaddle). The data was saved in the SPSS 22 program and the analyses were conducted using the same program. Frequencies, percentages, mean values, standard deviations, median values, and minimum-maximum (min-max) values were utilized for descriptive statistics. The statistical analysis of categorical data involved the application of the Pearson Chi-square test and Fisher's Exact Test for values below five in contingency tables. The significance of the observed differences was considered statistically significant at a p-value of less than 0.05. Results: The study began with 51 infants in the postnatal 4th week. Of the infants included in our study, 21 (47.7%) were in the control group, while 23 (52.3%) were in the patient group. 25.0% of the infants were the first pregnancies of their mothers. 56.8% (n: 25) were often the second or third pregnancies of their mothers, while 18.2% (n: 8) were often born after the fourth or subsequent pregnancies of their mothers. There was no significant difference between the control and patient groups in terms of gender, gestational week, and number of pregnancies of the mother. The average FMs scores of all patients were 26.88±1.79 (min-max: 22-28). In the patient group, FMs scores were found to be significantly lower (p: 0.046, p
