Özet

Bu tez Mehmet Ali Paşa'nın Mısır valisi olarak atandığı 1805 yılından itibaren zaman içerisinde hem Osmanlı İmparatorluğu hem de Avrupa Uyumu'nun karşısına nasıl bir tehdit olarak çıktığına odaklanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda Mehmet Ali Paşa'nın Mısır'da iktidarını sağlamlaştırmasına, gerçekleştirdiği reform ve toplumsal dönüşümün arkasında yatan motivasyona ışık tutmaya çalışırken, Mısır sorununun uzun soluklu bir krize dönüşmesinin arkasında yatan nedenleri açıklamayı, yaşanan askeri ve diplomatik gelişmeleri Avrupa Uyumu bağlamında değerlendirmeyi hedeflemektedir. Bu doğrultuda tezin ilk bölümü Mehmed Ali Paşa'nın Mısır valisi olarak atanması ve Mısır'da kurduğu idareye odaklanmaktadır. Tezimizin ikinci bölümünde ise Mısır sorununun uluslararası bir meseleye dönüşmesinin arkasında yatan nedenler ve yaşanan siyasi ve askeri gelişmeler açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Tezimizin üçüncü ve son bölümünde ise krizin çözüme kavuşturulması için girişilen askeri ve diplomatik müdahalelerin yanı sıra özellikle Boğazların durumu ve bölgede oluşturulan yeni düzen ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.

This thesis focuses on how Mehmet Ali Pasha emerged as a threat to both the Ottoman Empire and European alignment over time, starting from his appointment as the Governor of Egypt in 1805. In this context, the thesis aims to shed light on Mehmed Ali Pasha's consolidation of power in Egypt, the motivations behind his reforms and social transformations, and the reasons why the Egyptian Question evolved into a long-lasting crisis. Furthermore, it seeks to evaluate the military and diplomatic developments in the context of European alignment. Accordingly, the first part of the thesis concentrates on Mehmet Ali Pasha's appointment as the Governor of Egypt and the administration he established there. The second part of the thesis attempts to explain the underlying reasons why the Egyptian Question became an international issue, as well as the political and military developments that ensued. The third and final part of the thesis explores the military and diplomatic interventions undertaken to resolve the crisis, with a particular focus on the status of the Straits and the new order established in the region.
