Özet
Bu çalışma spastik serebral palsili çocukların çiğneme fonksiyonlarını değerlendirmek ve süreğen tedavilerinden bağımsız olarak tek seans manuel terapi egzersiz uygulamalarının temporomandibular eklem fonksiyonu üzerine anlık etkilerini değerlendirmek amacıyla yapıldı. Çalışmaya 52 spastik serebral palsili çocuk katıldı. Hastaların sosyodemografik ve klinik bilgileri değerlendirme formuna kaydedildi. Temporomandibular eklem değerlendirmesi için Temporomandibular Rahatsızlıklar için Teşhis Kriterleri Eksen I kullanıldı. Temporomandibular eklem ve servikal eklem hareket açıklıkları hem gonyometre hem de video kaydındaki görüntü üzerinden Kinovea analizi ile gerçekleştirildi. Çiğneme fonksiyonu otuz saniye sakız çiğnetilerek değerlendirildi. Olgular değerlendirmeden sonra randomizasyona uygun şekilde ikiye (Egzersiz/Manuel Terapi veya Manuel Terapi/Egzersiz) ayrıldı. Egzersiz seansı, temporomandibular eklem ve servikal ekleme yönelik egzersizleri içermekte ve üç set on tekrar şeklinde uygulandı. This study aimed to evaluate the chewing functions of children with spastic cerebral palsy and to assess the immediate effects of single-session manual therapy exercises on temporomandibular joint function, independent of their ongoing treatments. The study included 52 children with spastic cerebral palsy. The sociodemographic and clinical information of the patients was recorded in an evaluation form. The Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders Axis I was used for temporomandibular joint assessment. Temporomandibular joint and cervical joint range of motion were measured both with a goniometer and through Kinovea analysis of the video recordings. Chewing function was evaluated by having the participants chew gum for thirty seconds. After the evaluation, the patients were randomized into two groups (Exercise/Manual Therapy or Manual Therapy/Exercise). The exercise session included exercises targeting the temporomandibular joint and cervical joint, performed in three sets of ten repetitions each. In the manual therapy session, temporomandibular joint and cervical joint mobilizations, as well as intraoral applications, were performed in three rounds of thirty seconds each.
