Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of music on the mother's anxiety and breastfeeding success in the postpartum period. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted between 01.01.2023 - 01.06.2023 in the NICU of a training and research hospital in Istanbul. Mothers who met the study criteria were divided into two groups: 34 experimental and 34 control. Data; It was collected using the Personal Information Form, State Anxiety Inventory and LATCH Breastfeeding Diagnostic Scale. The experimental group was listened to the Neva Maqam, one of the Turkish musical modes, twice a day, 15 minutes before breastfeeding and 15 minutes during breastfeeding, for a total of 30 minutes, a total of 8 times for 4 days. The control group received standard care. Results: In the study, the experimental and control groups were similar in terms of socio-demographic, obstetric and baby-related characteristics. There was no significant difference in the pre-tests of the groups' state anxiety scale and LATCH scales before the application. Post-test state anxiety scores of the experimental group were significantly lower than the control group (p<0.001). The post-test LATCH score of the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group (p<0.001). Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the anxiety of mothers who were listened to Neva Maqam decreased and their breastfeeding success increased. It was thought that music is beneficial for mother and baby health when used appropriately and that the use of music by professionals should be widespread.
