Objective: This study aimed to evaluate urinary liver-type fatty acid binding protein (uLFABP) levels in cats with obstructive and non-obstructive lower urinary tract disease and to investigate the correlations between uL-FABP to serum creatine (Cr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) concentrations. Material and Metods: The study material consisted of 32 cats in 2 main groups: FLUTD (Group 1, n=24) and healthy (Group 2, n=8). Cats with FLUTD were examined in 2 subgroups obstructive (Group 1A, n=16) and non-obstructive (Group 1B, n=8). Obstructive cats were reviewed in 2 sub-subgroups as short (< 36 hours) term (Group 1A1, n=8) and long (≥ 36 hours) term (Group 1A2, n=8) obstructive. The baseline characteristics (gender, age, breed) and medical anamnesis data (dysuria, oliguria/anuria, pollakiuria, hematuria, vomiting, inappetence) and detailed physical examination findings (dehydration, lethargy, shock) of the cats included in the study were recorded. Total leukocyte count (TLC), serum Cr, BUN, and potassium (K) concentrations were measured from blood samples. Urine was examined physically, chemically, and microscopically. In addition, u-LFABP and Cr concentrations were measured from the urine supernatant. Urine L-FABP concentrations were divided by urine Cr concentration and presented as uL-FABP/Cr index. Results: Besides localized symptoms such as oliguria/anuria, polysystemic findings such as dehydration, vomiting, inappetence, bladder fullness, and abdominal pain were statistically more frequent in the Group 1A cats compared to the Group 1B. Pyuria, haematuria, and proteinuria were the most common findings in the urinalysis. No significant difference was determined between the groups and subgroups in terms of TLC and serum K concentrations. Serum BUN concentrations were significantly higher in cats with long-term obstructive FLUTD (Group 1A1) than those with short-term obstructive FLUTD (Group 1A2) and healthy xi cats (Group 2). It was determined that cats in Group 1A1 had the highest mean serum Cr concentration and this value was statistically higher than the mean serum Cr concentrations of all other groups. The mean uL-FABP/Cr values of cats with obstructive FLUTD (Group 1A) were statistically higher than those of cats with non-obstructive FLUTD (Group 1B) and healthy cats (Group 2). The difference between the mean uL-FABP/Cr values of cats with long- and short-term obstruction was not statistically significant. In addition, moderately strong positive correlations were calculated between uL-FABP/Cr values and serum Cr (r=0.646; p
