Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin Liselere Geçiş Sınavı başarısına etki eden faktörlerin belirlenmesidir. Çalışmada 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında mezun olan öğrencilerin Liselere Geçiş Sınavı (LGS) başarı puanlarıyla okul dışındaki faktörler arasındaki ilişki incelenip okul dışında yer alan faktörlerin (ailelerdeki maddi olanaklar, aldıkları eğitimin seviyeleri, özel dersler alma, dershane ile kurslara katılma vb.) öğrenci başarısı ile ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında İstanbul'un Anadolu yakasında bulunan özel ortaokullardan mezun olup LGS'ye giren 398 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Seçkisiz metotla belirlenen örneklem grubunda yer alan öğrencilere veri toplama aracı olan ve Yavuz'un (2020) geliştirmiş olduğu ölçek ile kişisel bilgileri içeren form uygulanmıştır. Bu ankette yer alan soruları eksiksiz yanıtlayan 398 öğrenciden alınan sonuçlar değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada bir araya getirilen anketin yanıtları IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 istatistik paket programıyla analiz edilerek ulaşılan bilgiler %95 güven aralığı ile (p<0.05) anlamlılık seviyesinde değerlendirilmeye alınmıştır. Veriler normal dağılmadığından parametrik olmayan analizler kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularında, 8.sınıf öğrencilerinin LGS başarısının cinsiyet, sınıftaki öğrenci sayısı, ebeveyn eğitim seviyesi, ebeveyn mesleği, kardeş sayısı, ailedeki gelir durumu, özel ders alma durumu, kurslara veya dershaneye devam etme durumu ve yılsonu okul ortalaması parametrelerine göre anlamsal bir farklılık oluşturduğu tespit edilmiştir. Başka bir taraftan erkek ve kız çocukların LGS başarısının kız çocukların lehine anlamsal biçimde değiştiği bulunmuştur.

This study aims to assess the factors affecting the success of 8th-grade students in the High School Entrance Exam. It investigates the success scores of the students graduating in the 2023-2024 academic year, the out-of-school factors in their scores, and the relationship between out-of-school factors (economic status of families, education levels, private lessons, private teaching institutions) and student success. The sample of the study is 398 students who graduated from private schools in the districts of the Anatolian side of Istanbul in the 2023-2024 academic year and had the High School Entrance Exam (LGS). Students were selected by random sampling. The scale developed by Yavuz (2020) and personal information form were used to collect data. The results of the 398 students who answered the questions in this survey completely were evaluated. The survey responses collected in the study were rigorously analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 statistical package program. The results were evaluated at a 95% confidence interval and a significance level of (p<0.05). Given the non-normal distribution of the data, nonparametric analyses were employed to ensure the robustness of the findings. The research reveals that the LGS success of 8th-grade students varies according to gender, class size, parents' education status, parents' occupation, number of siblings, family income, private tutoring status, attendance at courses or private teaching institutions, and end-of-year school score average. LGS success of male and female students differed significantly in favor of female students.
