Art, as a medium that reflects social structures, social classes, and labor processes, has also addressed the figure of the worker as a significant theme. Representations of workers have become a powerful symbol reflecting artists' social sensitivities and the economic and cultural structures of their time, serving as a form of social criticism. The Industrial Revolution, marking the onset of technological progress, became the source of inevitable changes, transforming working conditions through the integration of technological and industrial processes. This era led to the establishment of the capitalist mode of production and the emergence of a new class structure. The working class emerged as a historical concept as a result of the Industrial Revolution and the processes of industrialization. The Industrial Revolution, which influenced the entire world, altered the economic, political, social, and cultural balances of societies, and these transformations also impacted art, prompting new forms and expressions. This study examines the representations of the worker figure in art from a historical perspective, analyzing how workers were depicted in different periods and how these depictions interacted with social changes. In painting history, particularly from the late 19th century onwards, the rise of the working class brought the worker figure to the forefront in art movements such as Realism and Social Realism. In Turkish painting, especially after the proclamation of the republic, many artists, influenced by social changes, incorporated worker themes into their works, using the worker as a symbol of the labor life and social structure of society. Through artworks that portrayed the challenging living conditions and struggles of workers, artists drew attention to social changes and the working class, contributing to the artistic narration of labor history. This narrative is crucial for understanding the working class and its historical significance.
