ÖZET DOKTORA TEZİ PLATON'UN ETİĞİ Hasan YILDIZ Damşman:Yrd.Doç. Dr.Şeref GÜNDAY 2000-SAYFA: 224 Jüri:Yrd.Doç.Dr. Şeref GÜNDAY Prof.Dr. Mustafa YILDIRIM Doç. Dr. Ali Osman GÜNDOĞAN Bu tezin amacı Platon'un Etiği'ni, diğer felsefi disiplinlerle olan ilişkileri ile birlikte ele almak ve farklılıklarını vurgulamaktır. Girişte etiğin anlamı ve ahlak ile olan farkı, günümüzdeki etik anlayışları ve onların arasında Platon etiğinin yeri, mutluluk ahlakının çok kısa bir geçmişi ile Platon etiğinin çerçevesi ve etkileri yer almaktadır. Birinci bölümde, Platon felsefesinin temelleri olan varlık anlayışı ile epistemolojisinin birbiriyle ilişkisi ve bilginin oluşum süreci işlenmekte ve ruh ile bedenin birbiri ile münasebeti, ruhun ölümsüzlüğünü bilgiyi elde etmede ki fonksiyonu anlatılmaktadır. İkinci bölümde de Platon'un sanatı gerek bir bilgi türü olarak nasıl dışladığım, gerekse hangi sanat türlerine nerede yer verdiğini ve sanattan bir eğitim unsuru olarak nasıl yararlandığı ifade edilmektedir. Üçüncü ve son bölümde ise, Platon etiğinin can alıcı noktasının, siyaseti ile bağlantısı ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenirken; toplumun kuruluşu, adaletin gerçekleştirilmesi, İdeal Devlet modeli ve bu devletin kurucusu olan filozofların durumu, nasıl yetiştikleri, devletlerin bozuluş silsilesi anlatılmaktadır. Sonuç kısmında ise, onun felsefesinin, günümüzün pratik siyasi hayatında yaşanan bazı trajik gelişmelerden sorumlu tutulamayacağı ortaya konulmaktadır.

Thesis Ethics of Plato Hasan YILDIZ Supervisor: Assistant Professor (Dr)Şeref GÜNDAY 2000-Page: 224 Jury: Asisstant Professor (Dr) Şeref GÜNDAY Professor (Dr) Mustafa YILDIRIM Associate Professor (Dr) Ali Osman GÜNDO?AN The aim of the study is to observe Plato's ethics in terms of its relations with other branches of philosophy and to emphasize its differences. introductory part of the thesis includes the meaning of ethics and its difference from morality, ethical views of today and place of Plato's ethics among them, a brief history of eudaemonism the frame workh of Plato's ethics and its effects. In the first part the relationship between the concept of being and epistemology in Plato's philosophy and the formation process of knowledge were discussed. The interrelationship of soul and body, the function of the immortality of soul in attaining knowledge were also analyzed. The second part contains how Plato disregarded art as a type of knowledge, what types of art the types of art he particularly emphasized, and how he utilized art in education. In the third and last part, the connection between the vital part of Plato's ethics and his politics were studied in detail. The foundation of a society the realization of justice, the ideal state model and the position of founding philosophers int this state, how they should.be trained and the continuous deterioration of states were also analyzed. The concluding part includes the assertion that Plato's philosophy could not be considered responsible for the tragic developments in the practical political life of today.
