Vibrations in helicopters are an ever-present phenomenon, inherently resulting from the system's operational principles. The primary sources of these vibrations include rotor systems, transmission assemblies, and aerodynamic forces. This study investigates the vibration performance of gear housings employed in helicopter transmission systems. Accordingly, gears with Gyroid, Diamond, Schwarz, and solid geometries were designed and fabricated using additive manufacturing techniques. The vibration behaviors of these prototypes were experimentally analyzed. Accelerometer sensors were used to capture the dynamic response, and the collected data were evaluated using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Root Mean Square (RMS), and envelope analysis methods.Lattice structures—owing to their multi-layered cellular topologies—exhibit the potential to restrict the propagation of vibrational energy. In this study, Gyroid, Diamond, and Schwarz structures were designed within defined parameters and subsequently manufactured. During the structural analysis phase, stress distributions across the geometries were examined, and the mechanical strengths of the TPMS (Triply Periodic Minimal Surface) structures were comparatively assessed. The results revealed that the Gyroid structure exhibited the highest stress concentration at 12.56 MPa, whereas the Schwarz structure demonstrated the lowest stress value at 3.46 MPa.With respect to the vibration analysis, RMS and FFT outcomes were compared using the sensor-derived data. On the X-axis, the Gyroid structure yielded the lowest RMS value at 1.45 m/s², while the Schwarz geometry produced the highest vibration magnitude at 2.08 m/s². On the Z-axis, the Gyroid configuration exhibited the lowest vibrational response with an RMS value of 2.61 m/s². This study aims to identify potential design improvements for transmission gears in helicopters by evaluating the vibration attenuation capabilities of lattice-based structures. Nevertheless, the integration of such lattice gear housings into aerospace applications remains constrained by existing certification requirements. Compliance with stringent aviation standards necessitates extensive experimental validation during the transition toward practical implementation
