Özet
Hristiyan inancında İsa'dan sonra ismi en çok ifade edilen Vaftizci Yahya'dır. Bizans İmparatorluğunda bu inancın serbest din haline gelmesiyle beraber kilise çevresinde gelişen sanat içerisinde Vaftizci Yahya önemli bir figür olarak gösterilmektedir. Bizans sanatının gelişimi ile beraber Vaftizci Yahya'nın tasvirlerinin ne şekilde ifade edildiğinin aktarılabilmesi oldukça önemlidir. Barok sanatın yayılım gösterdiği 17.yüzyılda, Vaftizci Yahya figürünün Bizans sanatından aktarılan imgelerinin bu dönem içerisinde incelenmesi sanatçıların etkileşimlerini ortaya koymak adına önemli bir adımdır. Bu süreçte Bizans sanatı ve Barok sanatın içerisinde gelişimin gösterilebilmesi için kullanılan malzeme ve tekniğin de türlerine göre ayırt edilerek incelenmesi gerekmektedir. Vaftizci Yahya'nın Bizans'taki ruhani ve çileci imgesi, Barok sanatçılar tarafından yeniden yorumlanmış ve yoğun duygusal ifadelerle zenginleştirilmiştir. Bu araştırma Vaftizci Yahya ile ilgili yapılan sanat eserlerinden yararlanarak, yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda Bizans sanatı ve Barok sanat içerisinde yer alması ikonografik bağlam ve etkileşim açısından değerlendirilmesi hedeflenmektedir. Yapılan çalışma sonucunda Vaftizci Yahya figürünün her iki sanat dönemi boyunca ifade edilişlerinin biçimsel etkilerinin aktarılması amaçlanmaktadır.

In Christian belief, John the Baptist is the most frequently mentioned figure after Jesus. With the establishment of Christianity as the official religion of the Byzantine Empire, John the Baptist became an important figure in the art that developed around the church. With the development of Byzantine art, it is very important to be able to convey how John the Baptist was depicted. In the 17th century, when Baroque art spread, examining the images of John the Baptist transferred from Byzantine art during this period is an important step in revealing the interactions between artists. In this process, it is necessary to examine the materials and techniques used in Byzantine and Baroque art, distinguishing them according to their types, in order to reveal their development. The spiritual and ascetic image of John the Baptist in Byzantium was reinterpreted by Baroque artists and enriched with intense emotional expressions. This research aims to evaluate the iconographic context and interaction of John the Baptist in Byzantine and Baroque art by utilizing works of art related to John the Baptist. The aim of this study is to convey the formal effects of the depiction of the figure of John the Baptist throughout both artistic periods.
