Özet
Tümevarım ve sezgi, yöntem ve bilgi tartışmaları bağlamında temel iki kavramdır. Tümevarım, tikelden tümele, duyulur olandan makul olana geçişi temsil etmesi bakımından bilginin oluşumunda soyutlama sürecine tekabül etmektedir. Tümevarım ile birlikte sezginin kullanımında tikellerde örtük olarak bulunan tümel anlamın ortaya çıkarılması beklenir. Duyumsama, anımsama ve deneyim olarak kendini gösteren zihinsel sürecin sonunda bilimin ilk ilkeleri olan aksiyomlar, tanımlar ve hipotezler elde edilir. Böylece tümevarım, sezgisel karakteriyle kavram ve yargı elde etme sürecinin bütününü içine alan, bir akıl yürütmeden çok bir çıkarım sürecini ifade etmektedir. Tümevarım ve sezgi ilişkisinin, epistemik mantık zemininde incelenecek olması inançların doğruluk değerine gönderimde bulunarak epistemolojinin, düşüncel hatadan nasıl sakınılacağını gösteren bilim olmasına işaret etmektedir. Böylece epistemoloji, empirik psikolojinin bir alt bölümü olarak ele alınıp kesinlik arayışı, tümevarım ve sezgi kavramları üzerinden incelenecektir.

Induction and intuition are two fundamental concepts in the context of debates on method and knowledge. Induction corresponds to the process of abstraction in the formation of knowledge, as it represents the transition from the particular to the universal, from the sensible to the intelligible. Through induction, it is expected that the universal meaning implicitly present in particulars is revealed by means of intuition. At the end of a mental process that manifests itself as sensation, recollection, and experience, the first principles of science—axioms, definitions, and hypotheses—are attained. Thus, induction, with its intuitive character, expresses not so much a process of reasoning as a process of inference that encompasses the whole process of attaining concepts and judgments. The examination of the relationship between induction and intuition on the ground of epistemic logic refers to the truth-value of beliefs and highlights epistemology as the science that demonstrates how to avoid intellectual error. In this respect, epistemology is addressed as a subfield of empirical psychology, and the quest for certainty in knowledge is examined through the concepts of induction and intuition.
