Özet
Bu çalışma, öğrenme merkezleri stratejisinin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına, öğrenilenlerin kalıcılığına ve fen bilimlerine yönelik motivasyonlarına etkisinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desenle yürütülmüş araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılında Konya ili Selçuklu ilçesinde bulunan bir ortaokulun yedinci sınıf düzeyindeki iki farklı şubesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 63 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Deney grubunu oluşturan 30 öğrenciyle ışığın maddeyle etkileşimi ünitesi, sekiz hafta süre ile öğrenme merkezleri stratejisi ile işlenmiştir. Kontrol grubunu oluşturan 33 öğrenci ile aynı ünite aynı zaman diliminde mevcut öğretim programı uygulanarak işlenmiştir. Fen bilimleri motivasyon ölçeği ve araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen akademik başarı testi deneysel sürecin başında ön test ve deneysel sürecin sonunda son test olarak deney ve kontrol gruplarına uygulanmıştır. Akademik başarı testi, deneysel çalışmanın tamamlanmasından dört hafta sonra kalıcılık testi olarak deney ve kontrol gruplarına uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler bir istatistik paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Analiz aşamasında ilişkili örneklemler t testi ve ilişkisiz örneklemler t testi uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, öğrenme merkezleri stratejisinin uygulandığı deney grubunun akademik başarı son test ve kalıcılık testi puanlarının kontrol grubundan anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının motivasyon son test puanları arasında anlamlı farklılık görülmemiştir. Araştırma bulguları ilgili literatür doğrultusunda yorumlanarak uygulamaya ve gelecekte yapılabilecek araştırmalara yönelik çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the learning centers strategy on students' academic success, retention of what they have learned, and motivation towards science. It is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test control group, and the study group consists of 63 students studying in two different branches of a seventh-grade secondary school in Selçuklu district of Konya province in the 2023-2024 academic year. The unit of interaction of light with matter was processed with the learning centers strategy for eight weeks with 30 students forming the experimental group. The same unit was processed with the current curriculum in the same time period with 33 students forming the control group. The science motivation scale and the academic achievement test developed by the researcher were applied to the experimental and control groups as a pre-test at the beginning of the experimental process and as a post-test at the end of the experimental process. The academic achievement test was applied to the experimental and control groups as a retention test four weeks after the completion of the experimental study. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using a statistical package program. In the analysis phase, the dependent samples t-test and independent samples t-test were applied. As a result of the study, it was determined that the academic achievement post-test and retention test scores of the experimental group, to which the learning centers strategy was applied, were significantly higher than the control group. No significant difference was observed between the motivation post-test scores of the experimental and control groups. The research findings were interpreted in line with the relevant literature and various suggestions were made for practice and future research.
