İslam filozoflarından İbn Sînâ Aristoteles'in düşüncesini benimserken İbn Rüşd bazı konularda farklı bir bakış açısı sunarak kabul eder.
Özet (Çeviri)
In Aristotelian philosophy, nature constitutes the foundation of the emergence and generation of being, providing a crucial framework for understanding the concept of becoming. The notion of becoming is itself tripartite and entails the process of transitioning from potentiality to actuality within the composite of matter and form. To elucidate this process, Aristotle, particularly in his treatise Physics, interprets it through the lens of the four-causal theory and the doctrine of potentiality-actuality, both of which underscore the intrinsic principle of motion inherent in living beings. Subsequently, he situates this process within the context of hylomorphism—the matter-form composition—to enhance comprehension of the stages of generation in beings. Within this theoretical exposition, Aristotle explicates sexual reproduction in alignment with his biological inquiries, followed by an examination of spontaneous generation, which corresponds to asexual reproduction. In this regard, Alexander of Aphrodîsîas adheres to Aristotle's perspective, whereas Themistius offers critical objections. Among Islamic philosophers, Ibn Sînâ adopts Aristotelian thought largely in this domain, while Ibn Rushd presents a partially divergent interpretation that introduces alternative perspectives.
