In this thesis, the treatment of certain problems in the philosophy of religion is examined through some of the major works of dystopian literature. Works such as We, 1984, Brave New World, The Iron Heel, Fahrenheit 451, and Animal Farm are not only texts that offer political or social criticism, but also provide significant insights into modern humanity's search for meaning, its relationship with God, and the social role of religion. This study seeks to evaluate, from a philosophical perspective, elements such as religious references, conceptions of God, and the relationship between religion, politics, science, and morality in these works. In the introduction, the historical and intellectual background of the concepts of utopia and dystopia is addressed, and the philosophical foundations of the ideal society are explored through the utopian works of thinkers like Plato, Thomas More, and Tommaso Campanella. It is then shown how, in the modern era, the idea of utopia underwent a dystopian rupture, giving rise to a conceptual world in which the conflict between individual freedom and state authority became more pronounced. These issues are discussed under two main chapters:“Theoretical Problems of the Philosophy of Religion in Dystopias”and“Practical Problems of the Philosophy of Religion in Dystopias.”Particular attention is given to themes such as totalitarian leader figures who take the place of God, religious manipulations, the sanctification of science, and secular moral understanding. Drawing on thinkers such as Georg Lukács, Jacques Derrida, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Ian Barbour, the thesis seeks to understand the transformation of religion within dystopian narratives. Ultimately, dystopias are not merely critiques of the future, but also philosophical mirrors reflecting the spiritual, moral, and existential crises of contemporary humanity. This study aims to build a bridge between the philosophy of religion and literature, revealing how dystopian texts engage with religious phenomena.
