Özet
Kocaeli, Türkiye'nin Marmara Bölgesi'nde, zengin coğrafi özellikleri ve tarihi mirasıyla öne çıkan bir şehirdir. Kuzeyde Kocaeli Dağları'nın çevrelediği doğuda Sakarya Nehri'nin verimli ovalarının uzandığı bu bölge, Marmara Denizi'nin batısında denizle birleşmektedir. Kocaeli, dağları, ovaları, akarsuları ile zengin bir coğrafyaya sahiptir. Bilimsel bir araştırma olan bu yüksek lisans tezinde belli amaçlar doğrultusunda çeşitli yöntemler uygulanmıştır. Bu yöntemler araştırmanın tasarımını ortaya çıkarmakta olup doküman incelemesi, arazi çalışması, CBS ve nicel veriler gibi yöntemler uygulanmıştır. Bu çalışmada Kocaeli ilinin turizm coğrafyası incelemektedir. Kocaeli, hem doğal güzellikleri hem de kültürel ve tarihi zenginlikleriyle çok yönlü bir turizm potansiyeline sahiptir. İl, Marmara ve Karadeniz'e kıyısı olan jeomorfolojik yapısı, dağları, yaylaları, ormanları ve sahilleriyle dikkat çekerken; aynı zamanda Kartepe Kayak Merkezi gibi kış turizmi alanlarına, doğal parklarına ve tabiat parklarına ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. İklimi ve bitki örtüsü, ilin dört mevsim boyunca turizme elverişli olmasını sağlamaktadır. Kocaeli'nin jeolojik yapısı, doğal kaynaklar açısından çeşitlilik sunarken, termal kaynakları da sağlık ve termal turizm açısından önemli bir potansiyel yaratmaktadır. Bölgenin tarihî ve kültürel mirası, antik kalıntılar, köprüler, camiler ve müzelerle desteklenmekte olup, kültürel turizm için de önemli fırsatlar sunmaktadır. Ayrıca, ilin ulaşım altyapısı, kara, deniz, demir ve hava yollarıyla gelişmiş olup, turizmin daha da yaygınlaştırılmasına katkı sağlamaktadır. Festivaller, yerel el sanatları ve coğrafi işaretli ürünler, Kocaeli'nin yerel turizm değerlerini güçlendiren unsurlardır. Tezde yapılan SWOT analizi, Kocaeli'nin güçlü yönleri arasında doğal ve kültürel zenginlikler, alternatif turizm türleri ve sanayi turizmi potansiyelini öne çıkarırken, zayıf yönler olarak çevresel tehditler ve turizm altyapısındaki eksiklikler tespit edilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda, sürdürülebilir turizm politikalarının benimsenmesi ve altyapının geliştirilmesi, ilin turizm potansiyelinin daha etkin bir şekilde değerlendirilmesini sağlayacaktır.

Kocaeli is a city in the Marmara Region of Turkey, characterized by its rich geographical features and historical heritage. Surrounded by the Kocaeli Mountains in the north and the fertile plains of the Sakarya River in the east, this region merges with the sea in the west of the Marmara Sea. Kocaeli has a rich geography with its mountains, plains and rivers. In this master's thesis, which is a scientific research, various studies have been done on certain products. This programming reveals the programming design, and execution processes such as document review, field work, GIS and quantitative data have been carried out. In this study, Kocaeli tourism geography of the province. Kocaeli has both natural beauties and has a multifaceted tourism potential with its cultural and historical richness has. The geomorphologic structure of the province, which is on the Marmara and Black Sea coasts, is characterized by its mountains, while attracting attention with its plateaus, forests and beaches; at the same time Kartepe Winter tourism areas such as the Ski Center, natural parks and natüre parks in the province. Climate and vegetation are characterized by four seasons. It makes it suitable for tourism throughout. Kocaeli's geological structure offers diversity in terms of natural resources and thermal resources. It creates a significant potential for health and thermal tourism. The region's historical and cultural heritage, ancient ruins, bridges, mosques and museums The province is supported and offers important opportunities for cultural tourism. In addition, the province's transportation infrastructure is well-developed by land, sea, rail and air routes. and contribute to the further expansion of tourism. Festivals local handicrafts and geographically marked products, Kocaeli's local tourism values are the elements that strengthen their values.
