Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı Kamuoyunun elit sporun sosyal etkisine dair algılarının incelenmesidir Elit spor, yarışmacı olarak seçkin sporcuların olduğu en yüksek rekabet düzeyine sahip spordur. Araştırma 10 boyutlu sporun sosyal etkisi model (MESSI) üzerine kurulmuştur. Modele göre elit sporun: spora katılım, gurur, doping, şike gibi olumlu, olumsuz birçok sosyal etkisi bulunmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması deseni uygulanmıştır. Araştırma grubunu, Ankara'da yaşayan 18 yaş üzeri 21 kişi oluşturmuştur..Katılımcılar amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Veriler tematik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Elit spor, toplumsal bütünleşmeden ekonomik kalkınmaya, bireysel yaşam kalitesinden uluslararası prestije kadar çok boyutlu etkiler barındırmaktadır. Ancak bu etkiler, yalnızca yapısal dönüşümler, etik ilkeler ve doğru yönetimle sürdürülebilir hale gelebilmektedir. Aksi halde, elit sporun potansiyel faydaları risklere dönüşme tehlikesi taşımaktadır. Elit spor, hem bireyler hem de toplumlar için güçlü fırsatlar sunan, ancak aynı zamanda dikkatle yönetilmesi gereken bir alandır. Kapsayıcı ve eşitlikçi yönünün güçlendirilmesi, etik sorunların önlenmesi, ekonomik fırsatların adil dağılımı ve rol modellerin olumlu temsili, sporun sürdürülebilir toplumsal katkılar sağlayabilmesi açısından kritik öneme sahiptir.

The purpose of this study is to examine public perceptions of the social impact of elite sport. Elite sport is a sport with the highest level of competition, featuring elite athletes as competitors. The research is based on the 10-dimensional model of the social impact of sport (MESSI). According to the model, elite sport has many positive and negative social impacts, such as participation in sports, pride, doping, and match-fixing. Qualitative research methods were used in the study. A case study design, a qualitative research design, was employed. The research group consisted of 21 individuals over the age of 18 living in Ankara. Participants were selected using criterion sampling, a purposive sampling method. Semi-structured interviews were used as the data collection tool. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Elite sport has multidimensional impacts, ranging from social integration and economic development to individual quality of life and international prestige. However, these impacts can only be made sustainable through structural transformations, ethical principles, and proper management. Otherwise, the potential benefits of elite sport might turn into potential risks. Elite sport offers powerful opportunities for both individuals and societies, but it also requires careful management. Strengthening inclusiveness and equity, preventing ethical issues, ensuring the equitable distribution of economic opportunities, and positive representation of role models are critical to ensuring sport can make sustainable societal contributions.
