Özet
Bu araştırma gerçekçi matematik eğitimi yaklaşımı doğrultusunda tasarlanan öğretim etkinliklerinin uzunluk ölçümü bağlamında dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik başarısı ve matematik okuryazarlığını nasıl etkilediğine odaklanmaktadır. Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan ön test – son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın katılımcılarını İstanbul'da bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören 42 dördüncü sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Çalışma müfredatta kazanımlara ayrılan süre ile paralel yapılmış olup uygulama toplam 10 oturumdan oluşmaktadır. Deney grubunda sınıf içi öğretim gerçekçi matematik eğitimi ilkelerine göre geliştirilen etkinlikler ile desteklenmiş kontrol grubunda ise ders kitabında yer alan etkinlikler ile yürütülmüş ve dersler Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı öğretim programında yer alan kazanımlar doğrultusunda işlenmiştir.Araştırmanın iki veri toplama aracı vardır: Matematik Başarı Testi ve Matematik Okuryazarlık Ölçeği. Toplanan verilerin istatistiksel analizleri SPSS kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde bağımlı ve bağımsız t-testi, Wilcoxon testi ve Mann Whitney-U testi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda gerçekçi matematik eğitimi temelli etkinliklerin öğrencilerin matematik başarısında deney ve kontrol gruplarına uygulanan son test verileri ışığında deney grubu lehine anlamlı etki ettiği görülmüştür. Matematik okuryazarlığı becerilerinde ise gerçekçi matematik eğitimi temelli etkinliklerin deney grubunda etkili olduğu ancak deney ve kontrol gruplarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre gerçekçi matematik eğitimi temelli etkinliklerin ders kitaplarında, matematik öğretiminde kullanılması ve sınıf öğretmenlerine yönelik gerçekçi matematik eğitimi konulu hizmet içi eğitim, seminer düzenlenmesi alternatif olarak değerlendirilebilir.

This research focuses on how instructional activities designed in line with the realistic mathematics education approach affect the mathematics achievement and mathematical literacy of fourth-grade students in the context of length measurement. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental pre-test post-test control group design, a quantitative research method. The participants consisted of 42 fourth- grade students attending a public school in Istanbul. The study was conducted in parallel with the time allocated to learning outcomes in the curriculum and consisted of a total of 10 sessions. In the experimental group, classroom instruction was supported by activities developed according to the principles of realistic mathematics education, while in the control group, the activities included in the textbook were used, and the lessons were taught in accordance with the learning outcomes included in the Ministry of National Education curriculum. The research had two data collection tools: the Mathematics Achievement Test and the Mathematics Literacy Scale. Statistical analyses of the collected data were performed using SPSS. Dependent and independent t-tests, Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney-U test were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analyses, it was observed that realistic mathematics education-based activities had a significant effect on the mathematics achievement of the students in favor of the experimental group, based on the post-test data applied to both the experimental and control groups. Regarding mathematical literacy skills, realistic mathematics education-based activities were found to be effective in the experimental group, but there was no statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Based on these results, incorporating realistic mathematics education-based activities into textbooks and mathematics instruction, as well as organizing in-service training and seminars on realistic mathematics education for classroom teachers, can be considered as alternatives.
