Özet
Bu çalışmada, İslâm kelâmında âdet teorisinin yalnızca tabiatta tekrar eden olguların betimlenmesiyle sınırlı bir çerçevede ele alınmadığı, sünnetullahın değişmezliğiyle anlamlı bir irtibatının bulunduğu ve bu bağlamda kozmoloji dışında özellikle kelâm epistemolojisinde de belirleyici bir işleve sahip olduğu üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmanın temel problemi, sünnetullahın değişmezliğinin hangi gerekçelerle temellendirildiğini, bu temellendirmenin âdet kavramıyla nerelerde kesiştiğini ve bu kesişimde âdetin epistemik işlevinin nasıl kurulduğunu ortaya koymak olmuştur. Bu doğrultuda tez, âdetin kavramsal sınırlarını belirlemeyi, kelâmî problem alanlarındaki konumunu netleştirmeyi ve düzenlilik bilgisinin hangi şartlarda güvenilir sayılabileceğini tartışmayı amaçlamıştır. Araştırmada, kavramsal çözümleme ile metin merkezli bir okuma tarzını birleştiren bir yöntem benimsenmiş, âdetin etimolojik ve terminolojik boyutu, naslardaki kullanımı ve kelâm literatürü içindeki tarihî teşekkül seyri birlikte değerlendirilmiştir. Tez, giriş ve üç bölümden oluşmuştur. Giriş kısmında problem, önem ve amaç, yöntem ve kapsam, temel kaynaklar ile literatür değerlendirmesi ortaya konulmuştur. Birinci bölümde âdetin anlam alanı, naslardaki kullanımı ve kelâmî etkileşim bağlamında mantık, ahlâk, tefsir ve fıkıh gibi disiplinlerdeki yansımaları incelenmiştir. Ayrıca teorinin tarihî arka planı ve erken örnekleri ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde âdet–sünnet ilişkisi, sünnetullahın semantik çerçevesi ve değişmezlik ilkesinin teistik tartışmalarla irtibatı üzerinden temellendirilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra ilâhî adalet sıfatı ekseninde düzenlilik olgusunun nasıl açıklanabileceği tartışılmıştır. Üçüncü ve son bölümde ise âdet kavramı, kelâm epistemolojisinin temel prensipleri çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Bu çerçevede terimin bilginin tanımı, kaynakları ve türleri gibi tartışmalar içinde nasıl konumlandırıldığı, ne tür bağlamlarda ve hangi gerekçelerle konu edildiği ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.

This study emphasises that the theory of 'ādah in Islamic kalām is not addressed within a framework limited merely to the description of recurrent phenomena in nature; instead, it maintains a meaningful connection with the immutability of the sunnatullāh, and in this context, it possesses a determinative function particularly in the epistemology of kalām, beyond cosmology. The core problem of the study is to reveal the justifications upon which the immutability of sunnatullāh is founded, the points where this foundation intersects with the concept of 'ādah, and how the epistemic function of custom is established within this intersection. In this regard, the thesis aims to delineate the conceptual boundaries of 'ādah, to clarify its position within the problem areas of kalâm, and to discuss the conditions under which knowledge of regularity can be considered reliable. The research employs a methodology that combines conceptual analysis with a text-centred reading style; the etymological and terminological dimensions of 'ādah, its usage in scriptural texts (nuṣūṣ), and the historical development of its formation within kalam literature are examined together. The thesis consists of an introduction and three chapters. The introduction presents the problem, its significance and aim, the methodology and scope, the primary sources, and a literature review. The first chapter examines the semantic field of custom, its usage in the nuṣūṣ, and its reflections in disciplines such as logic, ethics, exegesis, and jurisprudence within the context of its theological interactions. Furthermore, the historical background and early examples of the theory are addressed. The second chapter establishes the relationship between 'ādah and sunnatullāh, the semantic framework of sunnatullāh, and the foundation of the principle of immutability in connection with theistic debates. Furthermore, the study discusses how the phenomenon of regularity can be explained in relation to the divine attribute of justice. In the third and final chapter, the concept of 'ādah is examined within the framework of the fundamental principles of theological epistemology. In this context, an attempt is made to elucidate how the term is situated within discussions of knowledge definition, sources, and types, as well as the contexts in which it is addressed and the reasons for its consideration.
