Özet
Köy Enstitüleri 17 Nisan 1940 yılında 3803 sayılı Köy Enstitüleri Kanununu ile kurulur. Kuruluş amacı kırsal bölgelerde yaşayan halkı sosyo-kültürel bağlamda aydınlatacak öğretmenler yetiştirmektir. Köy Enstitülerinde yetişen öğretmenlerden bazıları yazarlık ve şairlik kimliği ile öne çıkar. Bu sanatçılardan birisi de Mehmet Başaran'dır. Mehmet Başaran; Köy Enstitülerinden mezun olan ve bu kurumu edebiyata taşıyan bir sanatçıdır. Başaran için Köy Enstitüleri eğitim-öğretimin yapıldığı bir kurum olmanın çok daha ötesinde bir misyon taşır. Onun nezdinde bu kurum kimliğini oluşturan bir özgürleşme eylemi ve halkı aydınlatacak olan rönesans hareketidir. Mehmet Başaran kaleme aldığı eserlerinde Köy Enstitülerini panoramik bir perspektifle okuyucusuna sunar. Öğretmen kimliğiyle de tanınan Başaran eserlerinde; eğitim kurumlarının fiziki eksikliği, eğitim kadrosunun sorunları ve eğitimci tipolojisi, karma eğitimin toplumda oluşturduğu reaksiyon gibi temel sorunların yanında değeler eğitimine de değinir. Mehmet Başaran'ın eğitim algısı üzerinden şekillenen çalışma üç bölümden oluşur. Birinci bölümde Köy Enstitüleri tarihi üzerinde durulmuştur. İkinci bölümde Köy Enstitüsü mezunu sanatçı Mehmet Başaran'ın hayatı, sanatı ve eserleri ele alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise Mehmet Başaran'ın eserleri Köy Enstitüleri ve eğitim başlıkları altında incelenmiştir.

The Village Institutes were established on April 17, 1940, with Law No. 3803 on Village Institutes. Their purpose was to train teachers who would enlighten people living in rural areas in a socio-cultural context. Some of the teachers trained at the Village Institutes distinguished themselves as writers and poets. One of these artists is Mehmet Başaran. Mehmet Başaran is an artist who graduated from the Village Institutes and brought this institution into literature. For Başaran, the Village Institutes carried a mission far beyond being just an institution where education was provided. In his view, this institution was an act of liberation that shaped his identity and a renaissance movement that would enlighten the people. Mehmet Başaran presents the Village Institutes to his readers from a panoramic perspective in his works. Known also for his role as a teacher, Başaran addresses fundamental issues such as the physical deficiencies of educational institutions, the problems of the teaching staff, the typology of educators, and the societal reaction to co-education, as well as values education. This work, shaped by Mehmet Başaran's perception of education, consists of three parts. The first section focuses on the history of the Village Institutes. The second section examines the life, art, and works of Mehmet Başaran, an artist who graduated from a Village Institute. The third section analyzes Mehmet Başaran's works under the headings of Village Institutes and education.
