Özet
ÖZET Millî Mücadele 'yi konu alan kaynaklarda genel olarak Kuvay-ı Milliye ve Müdafaa-i Hukuk teşkilatlan üzerinde durulurken; taşra Müdafaa-i Hukukçular'ı ve Kuvay-ı Milliyeciler'i üzerinde yeterince durulmadığını görmekteyiz. Oysa en ücra bir köy veya nahiyede bile kurulan bir cemiyetin ve görev alanların Millî Mücadele'ye katkıları olmuştur. Çalışmamızın birinci bölümünde Birinci Dünya Savaşı ve sonrasını, Mondros Mütarekesi'ni, İtilâf Devletleri 'nin Anadolu'yu işgalini, işgale karşı teşkilatlanmayı verdikten sonra; Mersin ve Havalisinde, Millî Mücadele'de yararlık gösteren Kuvay-ı Milliye, Müdafaa-i Hukuk, diğer cemiyetler ve Millî Müfrezeler' de görev alan beşyüze yakın iz bırakan sivil halk, din görevlisi, öğretmen, belediye başkanı, kaymakam, diğer resmî görevliler ve askerlerin isimlerini ortaya çıkardık. Şahısların görev aldığı cemiyet ve teşkilatların oluşumu ve faaliyetleri hakkında, yörenin işgali, teşkilatlanma, mücadele ve tahliyesi hakkında bilgi verdik. ikinci bölümde ise; çeşitli kaynaklardan, resmî ve özel arşivlerden yararlanarak Millî Mücadele'de en ön planda görev alan ve âdeta lokomotif görevi yapanlardan 21 kişinin biyografisini hazırladık. Çalışmamızın sonunda, ekler bölümünde ise; şahıslarla ilgili, bir çoğu orijinal hiçbir yerde yayınlanmamış belge ve fotoğrafları koyduk. Bunlardan 6 adedi Atatürk'ün Mersin'i ziyaretleri esnasında, Mersinli gaziler ve protokol ile çekilmiş orijinal resimlerdir. Bu çalışmayla temennimiz, huzur içinde yaşadığımız bu topraklan kurtaran şehit ve gazilerimizi, gelecek kuşaklara tanıtmak, onlara karşı minnet ve şükran borcumuzu bir nebze olsun ödemek, başka araştırmacılar tarafından da adlarım belirleyip de biyografilerini hazırlayamadığımız diğer iz bırakanların tanıtılmasına öncülük etmektir.

SUMMARY Regarding the publications that deal with the Turkish National War of Independence, they generally dwell up on The National Struggle and the organisations of the Rights' Defence, but they do not give us detailed information about the nature and structure of those organisations in the country. As a matter of fact, even a minor organisation in a remote village or region as well as the people involved in it made considerable contribution to the National War of Independence. In the first part of our research, we particularly dealt with the World War I and its immediate aftermath events, i.e the Mondrous Armistice, the invasion of Anatolia by Entente Powers and the National resistance movements. Then we exposed the National War, the Rights' Defence, the other organisations in Mersin and its neighbouring locations which definitely rendered great service during the Turkish National War of Independence. We also scrutinise on the names of approximately five hundred outstanding persons, i.e the civil leaders, the Muslim clerics, the teachers, the mayors, the district governors, other government officers and the soldiers took part in the National Resistance Detachments. We also gave details about the establishment and the functions of those organisations and societies that local people joined in, how the region was invaded and saved after this great struggle. In the second part, we wrote, using different kinds of sources of official and private archives, a biography of twentyone persons who personally involved and fought in the front, as the locomotives of the resistance movement. At the end of our study, we placed the original documents and photos of those persons, which have never been published before in appendix. Six of those photos were the original ones showing the ghazis and the protocol of Mersin during Atatürk' s visit to Mersin. XIIn this study, We hope to introduce our ghazis and martyrs to the next generations as they saved this homeland in which we have been living peacefully till now, and We also intended to show how we have to be grateful to them, and it is our desire that future researchers are encouraged to move further on the biographies of some of those people we named them but could not study on their biographies. xn
