SUMMARY Globalization as being the movement of economic, social and political integration increases the relationships between not only countries but also cities and regions, and therefore it softens the concept of border between regions. While the concept of regionalism becomes popular with the instatement of regional economic blocks, the concept of localization is brought out with the establishment of small units that effectively use their capacity and are successfully integrated to the world trade system. Cities are significantly changed by improvements in science and technology, increases in global economic powers, globalization of productions, specialization and exchanging knowledge. Therefore the specific cities where global wealth is condensed are appeared as“global cities”that play the role to organize the global economy. Global cities need to be coasidered with together“information age”and“information technologies”that affect the forms of cities. Nowadays, buildings are constructed as multi-layer structures due to some financial reasons, the size of real estates, and the need of proximity of settlement areas to downtown or highway system. High-rise buildings in downtown areas host various financial activities and producer services which tend to centralize and crowd. Changes in economic structure with the process of globalization causes producer services sector, having indirect effects in redesigning cities, become important. Changes in this sector effects not only economical and social areas but also urban form. As cities become important in the global scale, global cities have started to appear. Due to this, modern office spaces that hosted global corporations' headquarters and branches that are located at different countries, that are connected each other with information network, and that included various functions are appeared. More reputable urban centers than their countries and regions, due to the accumulation of these offices at the same place, are emerged. These centers with the employment of qualified-professionals, variety of functions and provided infrastructure yield significant revenue. Wall Street, NY and Levent-Istanbul can be named as a few examples for these centers.“Büyükdere Caddesi”in Istanbul attracts attention in this context.
