Özet
ÖZET Lise kimya öğretmenleri derslerini etkili bir şekilde sunmada genellikle mevcut öğretim programları ve ders kitaplarındaki yetersizliklerden dolayı yardımcı dokümanlara ihtiyaç duymaktadırlar. Bu çalışmada, lise II kimya öğretim programında bulunan“Asitler ve Bazlar”ünitesi ile ilgili öğrencilerin ön bilgilerini ve yanlış anlamalarını dikkate alan, ünitenin öğretiminde öğretmenlere kolaylık sağlayacak örnek rehber materyaller geliştirilmiş, uygulanmış ve sonuçları değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada veri toplamak amacıyla“Asitler ve Bazlar Ünitesi Kavram Başarı Testi”(ABÜKBT),“Bilimsel İşlem Beceri Testi”(BİBT) ve öğretmen anket ve mülakatları kullanılmıştır. Her iki test öğrencilerin başlangıç seviyelerini belirlemek amacıyla kullanılmış, ancak ilk test çalışma sonucunda öğrencilerde meydana gelen ilerlemeyi ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla tekrar uygulanmıştır. Testlerin ve rehber materyallerin geliştirilmesi aşamasında Trabzon'da çeşitli okullarda görev yapan 10 kimya öğretmeninin yazılı görüşleri alınmıştır. Hazırlanan rehber materyallerin ve testlerin pilot ve asıl uygulamaları 2000-2003 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Çalışmada yan-deneysel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Çalışmaya dört öğretmen ve sekiz farklı sınıfta bulunan toplam 190 öğrenci katılmıştır. Öğretmenlerden ikisi ve bunların öğrettikleri 4 sınıf deney grubunu oluştururken diğer öğretmen ve sınıflar kontrol grubunu oluşturmuştur. Deney grubu öğretmenleri hazırlanan materyalleri uygularken kontrol grubu öğretmenleri ise normal öğretimlerine devam etmişlerdir. Verilerin analizinde kovaryans (ANCOVA) çözümlemesi kullanılmıştır. Bu analizde ABÜKBT'nin ön test sonuçları ile BİBT'nin sonuçlan birlikte değişen (covariate) olarak alınmıştır. Uygulama öncesi grupların ve öğretmenlerin sınıflarının karşılaştırması, sırasıyla, t testi ve ANOVA/LSD testi ile yapılmıştır. Ön testlerde deney ve kontrol grubu arasında ve öğretmenlerin sınıflan arasında a=0.05 düzeyinde anlamlı bir fark tespit edilemezken, son testlerde ise hem deney ve kontrol gruplan hem de öğretmenlerin sınıfları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, deney grubu öğrencilerinin kontrol grubu öğrencilerine göre daha başanlı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışma araştırmacılara ve eğitimcilere yapılan önerilerle tamamlanmıştır. SUMMARY Developing and Implementing Teacher Guide Materials Related to the Unit“Acids and Bases”at Lycee-II Lycee Chemistry Teachers need extra instructional materials to effectively present their lessons because of the fact that textbooks and the curriculum available are insufficient. In this study, guide materials concerning“Acids and Bases Unit”in high school chemistry 2 curriculum were developed, implemented, and evaluated. In the study, data was collected by using“Acids and Bases Concept Achievement Test”(ABÜKBT),“Science Process Skill Test”(BİBT), surveys and teacher interviews. The ABÜKBT and BİBT were used to determine students' levels at the beginning of the study. However, after the implementation of the study, the ABÜKBT was implemented to find out the students' new levels of achievement, again. In developing the tests and guide materials, ten chemistry teachers were interviewed at different high schools in Trabzon. Pilot and main implementation of them were done between the years 2000 and 2003. The quasi-experimental design was used in this study. The study carried out with four teachers and 190 high school students in eight classrooms. While four classes were used as experimental groups and implemented the new guide materials and strategies, the other classes were used as four control groups and implemented the current textbook with conventional learning strategies in teaching of the Acid-Base Unit. In the analysis of the collected data, an analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was performed, in which the dependent variable was the post-test score, and the covariate was students' scores on the ABÜKBT and the BİBT. Prior to the implementation of the materials, the pretests scores for the groups (experimental and control) were compared with t test and were found no significant difference between them (a=0.05). After the implementation, the students' scores on the posttests showed that there were significant differences both between the groups and the classes of the different teachers (a=0.05). Finally, it was found that the students in the experimental groups were more successful than the students in the control groups. From the results, some suggestions were made to program developers, researchers and teacher educators.
