ABSTRACT This thesis is devoted to the study of the linguistic development of a child's bilingual first language acquisition. In Chapter I, a general outline of the study and the reasons for which the study has been conducted. Chapter II, contains a survey of the related literature; as well as, brief summaries of some studies which have been conducted on the first language acquisition of both bilingual and monlingual children, in the past. The background information on the subject of the study and the methodology of the data collection process are del t with in Chapter III. Chapter IV includes the grammatical and semantic analysis of the data, which was catagorized based on the length of the utterances collected during the observations carried out on the subject of the study. The final chapter includes the discussion of the results obtained from the analysis as well as a concluding summary in response to the hypothese set forward. 1 1 1
