Özet
11 ÖZET Ergenlik döneminin en belirgin özelliği kimlik duygusunun kazanılması olup, dönemin temel gelişimsel sorunu ise kimlik duygusunun kazanılması sürecinde yaşanan kimlik karmaşası olarak gelişmektedir. Kimlik duygusunun gelişiminde ergenin ailesine, içinde yaşadığı kültüre ve sosyal sımfa bağlı pek çok etken rol oynamaktadır. Ergenin içinde yaşadığı sosyal sınıfın öneminden yola çıkarak, bu çalışmanın bir boyutunu, farklı sosyoekonomik düzeylerdeki ergenlerin kimlik karmaşası derecesi açısından karşılaştırılması oluşturmaktadır. Ergenlik döneminin kritik bir özelliği olarak kimlik duygusu ve kimlik karmaşasını ele aldığımızda, birey-kültür etkileşimi bağlamında, bu değişkenlerin kültürel özellikler açısından değerlendirilmesi önem taşımaktadır. Günümüz toplumunda birey-kültür etkileşimini değerlendirmede, popüler kültür baskın özellikleri ve belirleyici yapısıyla akla gelen kavramlardan biridir. Bundan yola çıkarak çalışmanın diğer boyutunu popüler kültürün ergenin kimlik gelişimi sürecine olan etkileri oluşturmaktadır. Bu etkiler popüler kültürün içerdiği ikonografi ve ön plana çıkardığı değerler çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Çalışma, Ankara'da lise iki ve lise son sınıfta okumakta olan; üç farklı sosyoekonomik düzey grubundan toplam 207 ergenle yürütülmüş, veriler Kimlik Duygusu Değerlendirme Aracı (KDDA) ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, ergenlerde kimlik karmaşası, içinde bulundukları sosyoekonomik düzeye bağlı olarak anlamlı bir şekilde değişmektedir. Öte yandan popüler kültürün etkilerini değerlendirebilme amacıyla her sosyoekonomik düzey grubundan gönüllülük temelinde toplam 32 öğrenci belirlenmiş ve onlarla odak grup çalışması yapılmıştır. Görüşmelerden elde edilen bulgulara göre, popüler kültür içerdiği ikonografi ve ön plana çıkardığı değerlerle ergenin kimlik gelişimi süreci ile ilişkili görünmekte ve kimlik karmaşasına etkide bulunmaktadır. Ergenin aile çevresindeki bireylerle kurduğu özdeşimler kadar, popüler kültürden alınan modeller de önemlidir ve ergenin davranış ve düşünceleri üzerinde etkili olmaktadır.Ill Bu modellerin kimlerden oluştuğu farklı sosyoekonomik düzeylere göre değişkenlik gösteriyor olsa da, tüm ergenler için benzer nitelikte değerler ön plana çıkmakta ve ergenin çatışmaları buna bağlı olarak artmaktadır. Alt ve orta sosyoekonomik düzeyde maddi olanakların kısıtlılığı ile birlikte ergenin sunulan ideallere uzaklığı yaşanan karmaşayı arttıran bir durumdur. Tüketim olgusu baskın bir değer olarak sürekli birbirinin yerini alan popüler kültür idolleriyle de pekiştirilmekte, zenginlik ve ün çoğu zaman başarı ile eş anlamlı olarak dile getirilmektedir.

IV ABSTRACT The most evident characteristics of adolescence period is the gaining of the sense of identity and fundamental problem of this period occurs between identity confusion and gaining of the sense of identity. During the development of the sense identity feeling, lots of factors such as the family of adolescent, the culture and social class in which he/she lives have important roles. Starting from the importance of the social class, in which adolescent is living, one of the aspects of this study is composed of comparison of the adolescents from different socioeconomic levels in connection with identity confusion. As being a critical characteristic of adolescence period, when the sense of identity and identity confusion considered, in connection with individual and culture interaction, assessment of these variables in connection with cultural characteristics gains importance. In todays society, during the assessment of individual-culture interaction, popular culture is one of the concepts that is considered with its dominant charecteristics and designating structure. Taken as a base, the other aspect of this study is composed of effects of popular culture on identity development period of adolescent. These effects are inspected in the framework of the values brought forward and iconography included by the popular culture. This study is performed with an overall amount of 207 adolescents coming from three different socioeconomic level groups, who are educating in Ankara and in second third class of high school, and data are collected with Sense of Identity Assessment Form (SIAF). According to the findings that are obtained, identity confusion on adolescents is changing significantly, in connection with their socioeconomic level. On the other hand, in order to assess the effects of the popular culture, 32 students are determined on the basis of being voluntary from each socioeconomic level group and focus group study is performed with them. According to the findings from interviews, popular culture seems to be related with the process of identity development of the adolescent and has affects onidentity confusion. As well as the identification that the adolescent establishes with his/her family, also the models from popular culture are important and have influences on the behaviours and thoughts of the adolescents. Although these models are changing according the different socioeconomic levels, similar types of values are brought forward for all adolescents and confusions of the adolescent are increasing in connection with these factors. Together with the limitations of financial possibilities on lower and intermediate socioeconomic levels, distance of the adolescent to the submitted ideals, is a situation that increase the confusion experienced. Consumption concept, as a dominant value, is being consolidated with the popular culture idols, which are continually replacing each other, and richness and fame are mostly being considered same as with success.
