382 ABSTRACT Communication holds an important role in the field of medicine as it is in many fields. Especially, in the diagnosis and treatment period, doctor- patient communication is of vital importance. However, in the modem medicine doctors generally demote patients to the state of 'object'. Due to this and other negative conditions, doctors generally don't answer the question of the patients and they say negative utterances and rise to the position of power. However, the utterances doctors say during the period of conversation to the patients affect the belief of patients for recovery, 'the satisfaction' they get from the conversation and their decision for the application of treatment. Because of this, the importance of doctor- patient communication in the field of medicine is examined with an efficient communication method; NLP. In this research, the doctors using NLP are compared with the ones who do not use NLP. It is seen that doctors, using NLP listen their patients, answer their questions, provide an explanation in a way that the patients can understand and say positive utterances regarding the treatment of the disease. In the utterances of doctors, not using NLP, negativity conversion, negative anchor, labeling, deletion, distortion and generalization are observed. In the paper, questionnaire is applied to patients, having conversation with the doctors whose oral language is analyzed. It is observed that patients, having conversation with doctors, using NLP believe in recovery. Patients, being examined by doctors who use NLP say that doctors listen to them and make explanation regarding diagnosis and treatment and they believe in the recovery and will have the proposed treatment. On the other hand, patients having conversation with doctors, not using NLP say that they383 are hesitant about their beliefs regarding recovery, the doctors don't make enough explanation and listen to them.
