Özet
ÖZETBu tezde, çevre sorunları ile ilgili haberlerin gazetelerde nasıl bir söylem veanlayışla sunulduğu araştırılmıştır. Böylece Türkiye'de yazılı basının çevre sorunlarıkonusundaki duruşu konusuna yorum getirilebilmiştir. Türkiye'de yazılı basın içindeçok çeşitli yayınlar yer almaktadır. Ancak bu çalışmada gerçekleştirilen araştırmagünlük siyasi gazeteler üzerinden yürütülmüştür. Gazetelerin içinde de farklı yayınpolitikalarının izlenmesi doğaldır. Dolayısıyla bu farklılığın çevre sorunlarınınalgılanışına nasıl yansıdığı da çalışmanın ilgi alanı içinde olmuştur.Tezin birinci bölümünde çalışmaya ilişkin açıklamalar yer almaktadır. İkincibölümde ortaya konan araştırmanın değerlendirmesine ışık tutması ve yaklaşımlarınortaya konması bakımından iletişim ve çevre alanındaki kavramsal çerçeve ortayakonulmaya çalışılmıştır. Üçüncü bölüm yapılan araştırmaya ayrılmıştır. Dördüncübölüm elde edilen bulguların değerlendirilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır.Araştırma için çevre sorunları haberleri arasından üç örnek olay seçilmiş,seçilen örnek olaylara ilgili gazete haberlerinin, taşıdıkları haber öğelerininirdelenmesinden elde edilen bulgularla söylem çözümlemesi yapılmıştır. Haberioluşturan öğeler içinde de başlık, giriş cümlesi, anlamlandırmayı yönlendiren sözcükve görsel malzemeler, biçimleme, kaynak kullanımı ve kaynağın inanırlığıincelenmiştir.Çevre haberlerinin inceden inceye ve planlı bir şekilde değil, gazetelerinprofesyonel ideolojileri ve günlük pratikleri içinde, gelişmelerin etkisiyle hazırlanılıpsunulduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Bu bağlamda ilgi çekici olma ilkesi ön planda tutulurkengazetenin siyasal çizgisi, ticari kaygıları, hedef kitlesinin beklenti ve öngörülerinegöre haberin içeriği şekillenmektedir. Ana amaç baskı sayısını artırmaktır.Bu durumda yazılı basın yoluyla toplumun çevre duyarlığı kazanmasınıbeklemek iyimser bir yaklaşım olmaktadır.

ABSTRACTIn this thesis, the kind of discourse and understanding within the presentationof the news about environmental issues in newspapers is studied. Thus aninterpretation is brought to the stance on environmental issues of the print media inTurkey. There are various publications in the print media of Turkey. However, theresearch in this work was carried out using daily political newspapers. It is natural tomaintain different publishing policies in the newspapers. Therefore, this study is alsoconcerned with how these differences are reflected in the perception ofenvironmental issues.In the first chapter of the thesis, there are the explanations of the study. In thesecond chapter, the conceptual framework in the field of communication andenvironment is produced to shed light to the assessment of the research conducted inthis thesis and to show the approaches. The third chapter is allocated for the research.In the fourth chapter, the findings are assessed and interpreted.For the research, three sample events were chosen out of the news aboutenvironmental issues and a discourse analysis of the newspaper articles about thosesample events was conducted through the findings which were obtained from theexamination of the information elements of those pieces of news. The title, theintroductory sentence, the word and the visual material which directed theinterpretation, the formation, the usage of source and the credibility of the sourceamong these elements which formed the news were examined.It is evident that the environmental news is prepared and presented accordingto the professional ideologies and everyday practices of the newspapers under theeffects of the developments, not meticulously and well planned. In this context, whilethe principle of being interesting is of great importance, the content of the news isformed according to the political standpoint and the commercial concerns of thenewspaper and the expectations and predictions of the target group. The main aim isto increase the circulation.That is why it is an optimistic approach to hope that people will becomeenvironmentally sensitive through the print media.
