The topic of our thesis is `Pronouns in Arabic Language and Literature'. Pronoun is a noun that stands for mütekellim1, muhatab2 and gâib.3 A pronoun supplies a basis and practical use such as it prevents the repetition of an overt subject by tacking the place of it. The subject of pronouns has an important place in Arabic Language and Literature. Arabic Poetry and verses of the Holy Qoran is full of such as examples. Our study consists of four chapters. In the first chapter we gave a short information about schools of Arabic Language and Syntax and morphology after we gave a general information about the birth and development of Arabic Language in terms of philology. In the second chapter, we began to work on pronouns in terms of syntax. We gave information about the kinds of pronouns after introducing the subject by stating the meaning of pronoun both as a word and as a term. In the part that is about kinds of pronouns, we examined the pronouns in two different groups, such as connected and separate whether it joins or not with its ?âmil? and ?latent? and ?overt? whether is appears in an expression or not. Except these, we examined the subjects of ?fasl? and ?shan? pronouns in detail which are used in a special way in Arabic Language. In the third chapter we evaluated pronouns in terms of rhetoric. In the fourth chapter we compared the pronouns that are in Turkish Language and Arabic Language. Firstly, we looked at which pronouns exist in Turkish Language pronouns. Bu doing this, we showed that the pronouns except personal pronouns such as demonstrative pronouns, interrogative pronouns, indefinite pronouns, relative pronoun and reflexive pronoun in Turkish Language appears outside of pronouns group in Arabic Language. In conclusion part we stated our opinions that we had after finishing our study, and in bibliography part we gave information of the sources that we used.
