SUMMARY Katip Celebi, who lives in the Ottoman Empire in 17. century, is a big encyclopedist. Celebi created a lot of creations in different subjects and we see his views about teaching and education in creations of whose name are“Mizan'ul Hak”and“Kesfel Zunun.”Our study is about Celebi's life, creations, life media and his views about teaching and education and the translation of Kesfel Zunun's introduction. After finishing his primery education, he started to work in official duty. In the time of official duty, because of wars he visited a lot of Ottoman cities and he had bought some books which he saw in bookstores and he noted down contents and names of these books. He gave his life to complatelly scientific investigation in his old ages and created a lot of creations. 17. century was a hesitation and disorder time for Ottoman Empire. At this time he advanced his views about the state administration and especially reasons of defeat of sea wars to solve the arguments of scientist who live in that century and he wrote some books about these connexion. Celebi hadn't scena regular education. But in the understanding of teaching and education, he advocated the systematical teaching and education which we regular education. But he sees the education of Muslim Teological School (Medrese) he advances his views about that connexion and he advocates them. He criticizies the incapaties of Muslim Theological School teachers and their schedules which were limited in distinct courses. The takinf off the mathematics and philosophy from schedule of Muslim Theological School (Medrese) and the propaganda of aganist that connexion is the regression of the scient of Celebi. He, beside religious sciences, he sees as a necessity teaching mathematics, philosophy and astronomy which we call mental sciences. -58-
